Chad Morris, Mike Gundy, or Larry Fedora IMO

Chad Morris seems like the no brainer hire. Has made great strides with a non-existent program, is an alumni, young guy...I don't know why they wouldn't go after him

A & m has to much money to go after frank. They at least have the resources to make any big name coach listen

A&M just passed Texas as having the most donor money of any school in the NCAA. A "homerun hire" for them is not the 2nd year HC at UTSA. He may could very well do well there, but he won't be in their top 10 names list. I'll throw out Bob Stoops.

With the money A&M has, whoever they hire will on the level of Alabama's hiring of Nick Saban.
A&M feels like they have the fan base, the facilities, the money, you name it.
Trust me...it will be a statement hire. Whoever that is, I have no idea.

Sumlin wasn't on that level. What has changed? Not calling you out. Serious question

Sure hope they don't go after Aranda.

Aranda hasn't coached one single down as a head coach anywhere. You think a major program is going to roll the dice on that? Usually better to go get a coach with proven success as a HC, even if at a lower school.

Yes, he's a great coordinator, but the HC job is entirely different, with far different skill sets.

Does he even want to be a head coach? Some coordinators don't want that.

Justin Fuente is the homerun hire. He's the no-nonsense, countryboy type they need.

But he will have better options.

Chip Kelly has reportedly already said he has zero interest in A&M. If he does goes back to college, he wants to go back to the west coast.

He's not leaving Virginia Tech any time soon.

Seems like a homerun hire.

Based on?

I can't wait to here why frank Wilson is so qualified?

He might be one day but he isn't yet, not by a long shot.

I'm just saying he's a very good recruiter and would probably take most of what he wanted from New Orleans area. He's no more of a risk than Herman was. The state of Texas just got devastated so the optics of paying someone 6 million a year on top of a 13 million dollar buyout wouldn't be great.

Major Applewhite would be a good fit, he was OC at Texas. Knows Texas for recruiting and being a Baton Rouge native would give him an inside to Louisiana.

Nah, want a proven, named HC
FW doesn't have ANY skins on the wall. Not even close to be a "Home Run" hire. Not in A&M's league.

They'll probably not fart around anymore and hire a big name that's had proven success.

People keep saying this, but who's out there that is a big name with proven success? Chip Kelly would hate dealing with the boosters and all the extra stuff at A&M.

Frank Wilson is a proven elite recruiter that is only strengthening his Texas ties and has UTSA as a dark horse conference champ contender. Not saying he is the first call to make, but to not even consider him would be dumb

Greg Schiano. He made RUTGERS a contender.

We spent over a half a billion dollars on football facilities and our stadium since then.

Of those, I wonder why Gundy would take the job.

The Big 12 is down but he has Pickens' money to throw around and is in about as good a spot as he can be in compared to the SEC.

Fedora OTOH is kind of capped at what he can do with UNC considering he has FSU and Clemson as the 500 pound gorillas in the ACC. This isn't the late 90s when Mack Brown was winning there because FSU's dominance was waning.

Chad Morris seems like a risk to me considering his record, even taking into account that he as at SMU. If he can make them a bigger player in the AAC then he is ready to move on.

If I was the Aggies AD, I'd fire Somlin now, even if I had to replace him with a box of Little Debbie snack cakes!

I would hire Bobby Petrino. Yes, he is a huge a-hole with hanging roids, but he would win every where. You are looking for a winning coach, not a husband for your daughter! He was my favorite for post Miles LSU. But, I'm happy with O, ---- so far!

His two main drawbacks are a huge salary buyout, but aTm can swing it. And the fact that he is a huge a-hole with hanging roids! This was too much for LSU, and I know TAMU's choir boy wannabe administrators will not even consider him!

Who knows, in a few years if LSU is replacing O, we may reconsider. The buyout will be smaller, and the roids may have cleared!?

He would still be an a-hole, but Nick used to coach LSU too!

Apparently the A&M AD is going to shoot for the stars, and has a crapload of money backing him to do so. So, I guess we are going to try and buy success. I don't agree with it, but it isn't my money either ;)

So, with the amounts they are talking about I'd expect to see names like Peterson, Fisher, etc... Saban-like money

I doubt we get any of them, but I guess they are going to try. Donations are down, and they need to do something to re-energize the fanbase. I still think it will be a mid-tier hire, personally
