Air Raid concepts are everywhere, but the true Air Raid is likely gone forever. Lincoln Riley is really the only one doing it somewhat similarly, but even then he's running the ball 35 times a game.

Leach is the only one who still ran the true air raid.

THE COACH. There was no OC. He was also the OC. The WR coach couldn’t run it. The RB coach couldn’t run it. The OL coach couldn’t run it.
Leach WAS the air raid. Period. Full stop. We have zero people to promote or advance that can run it. There is also no one we can hire to continue it exactly as is.
It was going to change no matter who is hired. Doesn’t matter who.

The problem with having a savant (and Leach was most certainly a genius) run your offense is that there isn't anyone to step up and run the show when they leave. There isn't another Mike Leach out there.

We would have to pay more money than next to last in the conference for a “better “ coach and that ain’t happening. Our cheap asses are going to have Sam until he decides to retire.

His seat isn't close to being warm. If any coordinator that deserved to go was Barry Odom. Besides getting a lot of sacks, the defense couldn't stop the pass no matter who they faced. Was awful on third downs and struggled stopping the run. I think Sam either told him to find another job or he got out knowing he was going to be fired.
