I honestly don't know enough about them to even comment on this. I know they had a bunch of injuries and a bad season and that's about it. I do know their 1st year performance in the SEC was made to look even worse because Texas did so well. Just or unjust, that's the standard they were inevitably measured by.

This take will prove to be ice cold. Not to mention, how unoriginal. Yawn.

I know the Nebraska reference has been made ad nauseum but it is dead on accurate.
Maybe you failed geography but last I checked Lincoln Nebraska isn’t a couple hours from Dallas FW. OU has as much of a claim as any Texas team to the Texas talent pool. Thats why OU is consistently a top 10 talent composite program and that will never change.

Seems like Georgia is skeeered if their fans post crap like this
lol
Phil Steele grades the OU DL and LB units as the best in the SEC. OU has a new OC new QB coach and the star protege of both. Looks like OU will be 5-0 going into the RRSO Texas may be great or may be average and they will be 5-0 going into the RRSO
The SEC commish got what he publicly said he wanted. “ The biggest and best rivalry game in CFB”

Searched for 'SEC for Adults' under the 'My Forums' link. Of course, there wasn't one.

I really think a lot of people here misunderstand the culture of Oklahoma.
This may be because I grew up in SW Oklahoma within 30 minutes of the Texas border either south or west. My parents grew up in the Hollis area which is in the far corner a few miles from north of the red river and east of the Texas panhandle. There were some UT fans in that area since it was Darrell Royal's hometown.
I can't speak for Tulsa or areas close to the Kansas border but much of Oklahoma has either a south or southwest feel. Are we deep south? Of course not. But we share a lot of terminology with the south (which surprises people in NC) and have a form of southern accents (pretty much Texas accents). It is a solid red state. A high percentage of people who came during the land runs were from the south. It is very heavily southern Baptist and far fewer Catholics than here in NC.
I know country music extends way beyond the south but if Oklahoma didn't have some southern influences we wouldn't have Reba and Garth and Vince Gill and Toby Keith and Carrie Underwood.
I spent 30+ years in NC and VA. Given both were in urban areas but I would make an argument that Oklahoma is far more like Alabama and Mississippi in many ways than those.

Saban at Oklahoma?
"Juggernaut."
Saban at Mizzou?
"It's admirable that Saban wants to help kids with special needs."
The right coach can win at Oklahoma. The same is not true at Mizzou.

Until OU proves otherwise you are simply another has been program now that we allowed you to join our conference. Cards are in place for you to have a better year so I'm anxiously awaiting your results.
Of course it may be a while before you make 2 trips to Atlanta for our conference championship game.....

The last time missouri won that division it was historically weak with one other ranked team that destroyed them. Hell, missouri couldn’t even beat 4-8 Indiana that year.

I used to think that A&M fans were annoying after getting beaten year and and year out acting all superior when they joined the SEC.
But at least A&M did have some reason for it. Their recruiting improved because of that move.
Missouri was the same team the first couple of years in the SEC as they were in the Big 12. Good enough to maybe win the weak north division but get beaten down in the conference championship game. They just happened to go into the SEC when the east was historically bad.
I thought they recognized their place but apparently not.
As far as I am concerned Missouri and A&M are just the two teams that each lost to OU 77-0 in games that could have been 100-0. (In fact, IIRC Switzer sent some coaches into the Missouri locker room at half to try to get them some advice on how to keep the score down.)

Yes. Texas is another good example. How many years did you guys spend in the wilderness and how many coaches did you go through?
Well it started with Mack getting lazy and just basically quitting on us. Then there was the oh so fun charlie strong and tom herman years where we lost to kansas. Yes kansas.
It was a long time and it sucked.

No. The fans actually care and there’s a lot invested in the program with lots of history

It started long before that. I'd say it started with Chrissy Simms with a brief period of success under Vince Young. (Okay, maybe the elder McCoy years too.)

Your conference?? Do you understand that if they had to pick between OU and Mizzou everyone else in the conference would pick OU?
Maybe not if we are asking the rest of the schools to pick between playing a doormat or not…if they want an easy win, on average, they’ll pick you guys.
I’m actually thinking you’re just trolling because you’re bored at work on a Friday. Because nobody actually believes anything you are saying. It’s actually not a possibility to make the points you’ve tried to make without bursting into laughter.

Based on what I’ve read from your comments, it is glaringly apparent you have no idea what you’re talking about.
Your comments read like someone that scanned the 2024 SEC standings, saw the record, decided to do zero digging, and then formed an opinion.

Talk shite all you want but we averaged 10 wins a year back then. You just simply had the better head coach and ours was scared to death of him.
I wasn't happy about it but with Mack winning 10 games a year we were stuck with him. Outside of the RRR he generally did a great job against good teams. Stoops was just in his head.
I didn't help that Oklahoma, and most of the people in the stadium knew what play was coming each time we had the ball. Greg Davis and his horizontal offense did us no favors.
