Success at Moo U is averaging 7-8 wins a year. He has a shot.

They are on same level. Both good coaches but are missing something that is keeping them from being on a Saban level coach. Personality traits are often overlooked. Some are hard workers and others are lazy. Some are too overconfident and lose games they should win. All have strengths and weaknesses.

I think he will make life miserable for teams with weak secondaries. I am going to guess 3-5 in the SEC this year (Ark, plus 2 of 4 from Ole Miss/Mizz/Ken/Aggie).

So you are saying he is the equivalent of Dan Mullen or better.

Mullen is a much better coach than Leach. I think Leach will be a consistent 6-8 wins/season coach. Historically, he hasn't been a great recruiter but has been able to out scheme other teams on offense. How that will translate in the SEC these days is anyone's guess. But I like the guy and think he's entertaining as hell, so I'm glad I'll get to watch his pressers this year.

He’ll win a few he shouldn’t and he’ll lose a few he shouldn’t. I don’t see them being contenders.

I think Leach's success will depend on the type of defenses he can consistently field at MSU. The offense will be fine. He did have a top 20 defense in 2017 at WSU, so he is familiar with success on that side of the ball. Arnett looks to be a pretty good hire to run the defense.

I have been pretty impressed with Leach's recruiting so far. He has been personally quite active on recruiting visits and campus visits, and he does seem to be placing equal emphasis on filling slots on both sides of the ball.

No more than anywhere else...which is mediocre at best. Should be a step up for State.

He might. Running a different system that requires different type players than the ones we all fight over. Only question will be his willingness to grind it out on the ground when needed

Mullen was a regular 6-8 win coach at state. Hell he even lucked into a bowl game with 5 wins all with a crappy down SEC. Mullen lost to South Alabama in year 5.

I think he’s gonna be a pain in the arse for everybody and will spring some big upsets. Every once in a while contending for the West

sounds like LSU fans are deflecting from the reality that after this year, coach 0 becomes the next gene chizik

He always wins enough games to make it to bowls. He's a good hire.

It'll be interesting watching the recruiting trends in the next few months. If he can get some early wins and catch fire, he could do really well. I think in terms of individual coaching I.Q. he's up there at the top already, but I wasnt' super impressed with the staff he hired. Gonna be fun to watch either way. As long as he upsets the other teams and not AU

Washington State finished 6-7 this year in a an absurdly weak PAC 12.

Washington State's schedule strength was tougher than Clemson, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Missouri and all or nearly all of rest of the ACC. They're not in the SunBelt Conference.

I like everyone else is glad he’s there just for pure entertainment purposes. However, I don’t expect him to have any real success. He isn’t known as a recruiter, also Washington State finished 6-7 this year in a an absurdly weak PAC 12.

This is a pretty weak take. In the first place, what are we (or you) deeming "success" in your post? You have zero numbers that you would consider successful/unsuccessful so right off the bat your post is off somewhere in la la land.

In the 2nd place, you are using 1 season as your proof as to why a coach isn't going to be "successful." Dishonest at best...not intelligent at worst.

Think

If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.
quote:

Think he’ll be good for an occasional upset, but it’s going to be so dang tough in the toughest conference in the land.

So true. He would absolutely wreck some shite in the much weaker east.

quote:

He has to play Bama, LSU, Auburn, and A&M every single year.

One of these things is not like the other. (Hint: One can be described as a, "really, really, really mediocre gay guy.")
quote:

If he goes 1-3 in that stretch it’s considered a success. That means 9 wins at best.

If you look at 2012 to the current day and time, State will most certainly go 1-3 in that stretch. Not only does Daddy Maroon own aggot, but Leach has skulldrug the dick diddlers with a 7-2 record. Plus, a 9 win season in The West is a great season, but you wouldn't know anything about all that.
quote:

But I think

Well see, that's your 1st problem, ya thinkin' ain't thankin' worth a f*ck, Dawgsontop: What, exactly, are the dawgs on top of? Recruiting? Living in the past? ("But muh, Herrrschelll") the SEC East? (LULZ.) Moral victories? Underachieving? Anti-LSU Thread-Starting champions?

quote:

But I think that as long as they’re ahead of Ole Miss that’s all that really matters to them.

Terrible take, take is terrible. Burn it down and start over. Funny how State beat ole miss and still righted the sinking ship, ain't it? Funny how the overwhelming majority of ole Miss fans think (and think positively) that Leach will be just fine, and vice versa for Kiffin, ain't it? Funny how you're living in the past and need to broaden your horizons, ain't it?

It's unfortunate that ignorance is not inherently painful, and fortunately for you, being stupid is not a crime.

And so, you are free to go, but with one word of caution: If you spit on innocent children, women and the elderly whilst barking at them, you will be charged with assault. Now go.

Similar to what you've seen at his other stops Texas Tech and WSU

Should get them to a bowl every year mostly around that 6-8 win mark with a year or two where he might have an above average year of 9-10 wins.

I think MSU is okay with that.
