Will Dabo Catch Saban?

Dabo is 49 with 2 natties at a program that is peaking. Saban is 67 with 6 natties. What odds do you give Dabo of equaling Saban if they retire at the same age?

Maybe, but the same argument was made for Urban. We'll see.

If he stays in college that whole time, he's got a decent shot. It's easier to win them under the playoff system especially in a bad conference like the ACC.

Possible, but doubtful.

Good point. I do think Dabo is more stable than Urban, though. No known health issues or program drama.

How the hell could anyone possibly make an educated guess at this? No one knows

Not impossible but if Saban wins anymore then it might be impossible

Saban's not done either. He's got at least a couple of more before he hangs up the whistle.

This - he's basically Bobby Bowden 2.0 - only good team in a shitty conference.
Dabo's still a great coach, but his path is SOOO much easier. He's got a free ticket to the playoffs each year in that sorry conference.

He will. Without a doubt.

Easier path no doubt but his teams have proven they can beat the best.

Im as big of an SEC homer as you will come across but alabama absolutely stomped the entire conference this year, minus a moment of looking pedestrian in the SEC championship game this year with tua hurt, then proceeded to get the shite beat out of them in the national championship game against clemson. I have a hard time imagining yall came out that flat in the championship game. Yall had plenty of experience, coaching obviously isnt a problem, maybe Dabo is that good.

Cannot argue with anything in the above post. Some Bama fans can’t accept Clemson was just a better overall team in 2018. I will say Bama played their worst game of the year and Clemson played their best game of the year on the same night but that’s just how the cookie crumbled.

With the shitty ACC conference I’d give it a 50/50 chance. Nick has to have his team prepared every week except for the shite non conference games.

Guy knows how to move the pieces on the chess board better than anybody at the moment, including Saban. He is getting assistants to pass up millions of dollars to stick around. He is getting black college football first rounders to stick around. It is pretty incredible to watch and next to impossible to imitate. When they say All In, they mean All In. From the lowliest trailer park fan to the President of the school. Nobody challenges the Clemson Football Machine in the Upstate of South Carolina.

It's more than that. It involves running head first into 4* and 5* athletes instead of 2* and 3*. It involves being down critical players in the secondary because they have to battle every game instead of 2-3 games a year. It involves having to show up for every game, even ones that look like blowouts. Clemson just doesn't face all that.
