I'm sure the SEC executives and the ESPN executives simply overlooked the lucrative opportunity of having VA and NC.

Do you believe that Oklahoma media markets are larger? The Virgina and NC media markets dwarf Oklahoma. The SEC gains little from Texas as the SEC footprint already includes that state.

I believe you're another simpleton who looks at the population of a state and assumes that population all watch the college team that resides in that state, which is adorable. If that's your level of thinking, you guys should have a hard-on for bringing in Syracuse and USC instead of lowly VA and NC. Gotta get those CA and NY markets baw!

Oklahoma and Texas have a much, much larger national fan base than UNC or UVA putting more eyes on the conference than adding UNC or UVA

Correct. ESPN isn't pursing OU and TX to sew up the OKC and Austin markets or any state markets at all. It's about the national viewership they will bring from week to week as members of the SEC. ESPN isn't stupid, and neither are the SEC brass.

Nobody cares about TV markets anymore. It's about cumulative eyeballs and we bring a shite load of them.

It seems that you are the one doing that with regards to the state of Oklahoma. Does every single person in Oklahoma watch the Sooners? Of course not. There are many more potential eyes to watch games in North Carolina and Virgina. They have a total population of almost 20 million people combined. They are the 9th and 12th most populous states. Oklahoma has fewer than 4 million and ranking 28th. That is fewer than all other SEC footprint states except for Arkansas and Mississippi. There is only one media market in the top 50 for Oklahoma (Oklahoma City at 43rd). North Carolina and Virgina have four that tank higher that OKC. Oklahoma brings very little.

Texas brings eyeballs, but I am discussing Oklahoma. Neither belong in the league, but at least Texas isn't Oklahoma.

There isn't a significant sports media outlet in the US that doesn't cover OU football frequently. On a national scale, eyeballs and clicks abound for the Sooners. As CFB heads into the post-NCAA, four mega conference era, for the SEC - bringing in OU and texsa is a no-brainer.

I'm going to break this down for you in a way that any chimpanzee can understand by presenting two scenarios for a college football viewer on any given Saturday.

Scenario A:
Alabama @ Virginia
North Carolina @ LSU

Scenario B:
Alabama @ Oklahoma
Texas @ LSU

Which scenario do you suppose ESPN and the SEC brass think will generate the most national viewership?

Scenario A or Scenario B?

He literally can’t comprehend that a low population state like Alabama, or Oklahoma CAN bring a larger national audience than Virginia, or that TV markets don’t matter at all anymore.

Goes both way baw...TX and OU get out of a shitty conference, SEC members get another $15 million per school per year in distributions.

And with expanded playoffs, the SEC will have a shitload of teams in.

Regardless of North Carolina's and Virginia's population, those states are more about professional sports than college football.

Have you ever watched a Hokie or Tar Heel football game? Very boring and dull football, even on their best days.

OU is a blue blood, Texas has the population and produces the most NFL talent, and the SEC just can't pass up two historical football powers for VA and NC schools.

Missouri has a larger population than OK and guess what, its all about the Blues, Cardinals, Chiefs, Royals. Mizzou is another brand of boring football that proves population doesn't matter.

This should be a new topic for all of the haters to vote on.. It isn’t rocket science and your example was perfect.
