Why would the SEC help Oklahoma and Texas?

They are mediocre, uninspiring programs in pillow-soft conferences that aren't able to "raise the tide" enough to help other conference programs make the Big XII more competitive. Except for some financial improvement the SEC gains little by them joining. From a television market perspective, including Oklahoma doesn't help at all as the SEC footprint already includes Texas.
So Oklahoma and Texas come on their knees begging for admission. Why would we give these programs a hand up by helping them recruit better? I believe that if they were to go to any other conference they wouldn't gain any additional competitive edge and won't improve their chance at winning national titles.
They need the SEC desperately. The SEC doesn't need them. They aren't top-notch programs anymore.
Texas has been largely irrelevant for more than a decade. A team having only won one national title in fifteen years, and two in 51 years is not a top tier program. Oklahoma isn't much better having two titles in 36 years, with the most recent two decades ago. They must think winning numerous games against weak conference members makes them something special.
Oklahoma is what the color white would taste like if it were a flavor - bland beyond edibility.

Not so much Oklahoma but the sec definitely gave Texas a life raft.

OU didn’t need Texass that’s for sure.

It makes no sense to help them by bringing into the most successful conference in the nation after the destroyed their own. Absolutely none.

But They make sure they work with each other to make sure they get what they want. Also to protect each other.

Oklahoma is like a lamprey sucking to the underside of their host shark. Or maybe they are like Marcie, Peppermint Patty's (Texas) friend from the Peanuts; seemingly permanently attached to Texas's rear end.

That you think the SEC did any of this to "help Oklahoma and Texsa" instead of the SEC is quite humorous.

Nothing in my post states, explicitly or implies, that the SEC did this to help UT and OU, only that by admitting them into the league helps these undeserving second-rate teams.

Just awful takes all around. Would you concede that super conferences are happening? If not, pull your head out of your arse. If so, you should see value in adding two of the top ten programs of all time. If you're not an Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, or Auburn fan...you should just be thankful for the extra money because you were never going to win anything regardless of whether we joined or not.
Aggy fans, please just shut the frick up..yall should take a month or two off after the show yall put on this week. 10 years in the SEC and your program is still only worth half of what ours is. Loving the fake confidence coming out of College Station all of the sudden.
"Everything is going to be fine guys, I swear. We're a borderline top 5 program now"

Because Texas has a 31.9 billion dollar endowment.

Oklahoma is a great fit

Goes both way baw...TX and OU get out of a shitty conference, SEC members get another $15 million per school per year in distributions.
Errrybody is a winner.....except Aggie

I swear you people have absolutely no vision and cannot forward think to save your lives. College football is going to evolve and change dramatically over the next 5-10 years. Everything is becoming about money. Texas and Oklahoma will bring to the Southeastern Conference treasure troves of cold, hard cash. Their addition will be to the financial betterment of all parties involved.

ESPN is putting OU and tu in SEC
The SEC can't wait.
B1G will complete their TV and certainly try to out do the SEC's Dec 2020 3 billion $ deal.
Then, the SEC will no doubt look to restructure that deal to account for OU/TX (maybe others) pending additions and jump back ahead in terms of top TV dollar contracts.
$$$ rules all.

Immaterial. They are not giving it to the SEC or it's member schools

Shut up. We do not need your crappy program and OU to become a super conference. Particularly with your history of destroying conferences. We have much better options than you two refugees.

I see what is coming. I just don't think UT and Oklahoma should be included. I prefer an Eastward expansion of the SEC. Just as much, if not more money to be made there. Many more eyes to watch in Virgina and North Carolina.

I'm sure the SEC executives and the ESPN executives simply overlooked the lucrative opportunity of having VA and NC.

It’s so cute that you’re still so obsessed with us that you follow us to the premier conference a decade later.
