re: Why is it important to Bama fans that Lanning wasn't offered the job? But we know he was

Nobody truly knows who was or wasn't offered the job. Its all pure speculation.

Except it's exactly what frickheads like you have been doing to other fans. You sit around and dream up candidate after candidate for a team looking for a new coach, and when they hire someone no one expected, you list all the coaches you speculated on, and put the hired coach last and say, "They lost out on their top pick, lol!" when in fact, that could have been their target all along.

It's how the game is played, and now Alabama fans are the butt of the joke. You lost out on your first pick, lol.

What Lanning has done by year two in his head coaching career was more impressive than anyone else on your list of possible hires.

He’s 0-3 vs Deboer. Clearly more impressive

I heard that Lanning is not a Jimmy Sexton client. Therefore, he was never considered by those in position of authority. His payoff was ridiculous, in any event. Why is it important to the rant to think that Lanning turned down Bama? DeBoer beat him twice last year.

Because they want to delude themselves that Alabama struggled with a coaching search despite the fact the coaching search lasted less than 48 hours. As soon as Saban announced his retirement, Byrne was on a plane to Seattle. He was talking to DeBoer and his wife from the comfort of his hotel room within hours of Saban's announcement.

DeBoer could turn out to be the worst hire in the history of Alabama Football but that will not change the fact that he was Byrne's first choice to succeed Nick Saban.

You melted down and said you were "done" with college football.

Did you change your mind?

Indeed I did. However, it wasn't the hire of DeBoer that caused me to melt down. It was the feeling of betrayal that overcame me after Isaiah Bond left for Alabama's third most-hated rival. I took it personally for two reasons:

1) I took my dad to the Iron Bowl where we both were witnesses to 4th & 31

2) My dad suffered a very nasty health scare around the same time he entered the transfer portal

I was not at my best emotionally at that time and I melted down. I am quite recovered now.

You also said you hated the 2021 SEC championship team because you said they let you down. You’re the kind of fan any team can do without

And I still stand by my statements from November 27, 2021. I was intoxicated but all that did was allow me to make my feelings clear to everyone. I hated that team. They frustrated me all year and of all the teams Saban coached, from 2007-2023, the 2021 team was the only one that I didn't particularly care for.

God bless you.

Why do Alabama fans think this makes some huge difference?

Because they want to pretend any coach would crawl over hot coals just be considered to coach there and couldn’t possibly be turned down by anyone. Which is why they pump up CKD’s record as if no one else could match his career record outside of Nick Saban.

Did you even read what I wrote in response to you? This was our original conversation:

You: You melted down and said you were "done" with college football.

Me: Indeed I did. However, it wasn't the hire of DeBoer that caused me to melt down. It was the feeling of betrayal that overcame me after Isaiah Bond left for Alabama's third most-hated rival.

You: Welcome to the world the rest of us have been living in for some time now.

Me: The new transfer rules went into effect in 2021.

My entire meltdown was centered on Isaiah Bond's transfer to Texas. That's why it makes a difference to me.

Exactly, welcome to the the word the rest of us have been living in for some time.

I remember posters like you laughing at LSU when we went through the same thing after Orgeron was fired and Alabama poached Ricks.

Again. The college football fandom hasn't been living in this world for sometime. This shite only started in 2021.

This was my favorite:

Leipold also has done well, but there are a lot of them who have been promoted that didn't fair as well with the promotion.

If Leopold wasn’t so overrated, he’d have Kansas in the playoffs already.

Odd, you posted this in a thread talking about him transferring to Alabama.

Back when Alabama fans liked the portal.

It’s cute Bama fans think their AD hired DeBoer. No, Sexton hired DeBoer for Bama.
