If a shithole like Tuscaloosa can keep Saban there, a jewel like Oxford certainly can keep Kiffin.

You don't think at all, son. That's the point. Hazleton, PA and Tallahassee, FLA were not "destinations". And one of those places is rapidly working their way off the "destination" list.

Ole Miss could be a "destination". Tuscaloosa is not a "destination" because of Bryant - it's because of Saban. These things ebb and flow. Kiffin is not the man for the job - but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

You should write your list of "destination jobs". For one thing ... just for the exercise. Share it with us, genius.

Resources at the job are what makes the difference.

I'd say the city matters little to none.

There are nice places pretty much everywhere if you're rich enough.

Duurrrrr forget the two hour rain delay and continued rain at kickoff. How can you not fill the stadium?

I know why you are pursuing this ... is LSU destined to win after getting through this current Coach O fiasco ? Asked another way ... how far can LSU possibly fall ? Is LSU a "destination school" ?

The guy that follows Coach O is doing to get a good shot at it. He'll get some benefit of the doubt. But miss on this next hire ... and the next one ? Good luck.

LSU has the resources to compete for national titles and a good recruiting base so yes, I'd say it's a destination job in general.

Obviously every coach has certain preferences or reasons why he may or may not like a certain school.

I would say - and have said talking ball face to face - that LSU has the best location and best culture for producing college ball players I've ever seen. Louisiana produces hungry ball players in mass quantities, and several rich states are just a half day drive away.

But - we've seen - let's be honest - LSU is not immune to a bad series of hires. The firing of Les Miles was precisely because the recruits didn't match the results ... and before Les Miles ain't exactly a great stretch of LSU football.

NO - LSU is no "Destination". It's where over-ambitious coaches go to die because they can't handle the expectations.

You mean like when they won a national championship two seasons before Miles was hired?

You're a moron.

Of course. LSU should get the best hire - just scan the NFL ... pick one - and the results should fall in place. The talent is there. Hell - to paraphrase Jerry Jones - "Fifty coaches could win with this team".

That was right before he fired Jimmy Johnson. But hey, you're LSU. The wins are per-ordained. You are - a "destination school".

You don't seem to understand what the term "destination job" means as you're moving the goalposts all over the place and building strawmen.

I actually think Lane will stay in Oxford and loves it. I have this weird feeling that Lane actually enjoys literature and will fall in love with the southern literature that eminates from the bowels of the Oxfud Squaa'a and will do something really cool like start working on a masters degree in literature there

Would be something cool his kids could feed off of and the Ole Miss fan base would fricking love it

Lane is an attention whore. The star and focus at Ole Miss is and always will be "The Grove" with your caviar and candelabras. The football game is second fiddle to your precious Grove.

Same. But I do enjoy watching the rant clamor over how long he’ll stay.

Because, not to be rude or anything, but he's gonna think he can do better

He’s gonna leave for a team he’s going to beat the shite out of?

Makes zero sense

Makes complete sense, actually.

The LSU game will be his "look what I can do with Ole Miss, imagine if you had me instead of Orgeron" moment. Not saying the administration is leaning towards him right now, but it's well known that the natives are restless here right now. He'll see the game as a way to force an interview. Worst case scenario for him, Ole Miss will empty the bank to keep him. Best case, he steps into a job with a lot higher ceiling, and is kinda geared towards his system already.

A rain delay? Give me a break. UGA fans have sat thru tropical storms. Didn’t hurt our attendance much either.
