I'm not complaining, no way atmosphere could top Sat night LSU Ole Miss game and the Auburn Ole Miss atmosphere will be great this Sat night.

I can also understand CBS not wanting Ole Miss in consecutive weeks but that's two weeks in a row CBS has passed on the best game of the weekend.

Last week was a big WTF.

This week they picked UF/UGA because of ratings.

State and UK was a pretty good game and gave them an opportunity to feature two schools who haven't been on CBS very many times. It shouldn't be that difficult to grasp why it was on.

because ratings for LSU/OM dwarfed that of kentucky/state, and all networks care about is ratings

To be fair, nobody really knew that LSU was going to become competitive again.

I hope you aren't complaining about getting to play night games in TS?! Alleva went to Slive over the summer and asked to play home games at night. Slive passed it on to the Networks. It seems they are honoring the request for now. They can pass on all the home games for all I care. I don't really like watching games that Verne is calling anyway.

The asshurt about not being on CBS for some reason is starting to boil over a little bit. It's very odd. It's not like people aren't watching on ESPN.

I hate watching CBS.

Verne and Gary are the worst.

They should feel fortunate they don't have to sit through that pain.

any LSU fan that complains about not being the 2:30 CBS game is IMHO a fricking idiot! Every year all everyone complains about is more night home games! Now its we want to play at 2:30 at home? STFU

That's exactly the point isn't it? CBS doesn't care about featuring teams that haven't been on. They care about generating eyeballs. It was a good game, but you can't deny it was a head scratcher and it was difficult to grasp why they picked that game, hence everyone asking about it before and after it was picked.

That being said, it is worth mentioning again that CBS has a handshake agreement that it will not pick LSU at home for day games absent an overriding consideration.

If you look at the TV ratings, you'll see higher ratings for the State @ Kentucky game.

A National Network Broadcast almost always has more than a National Cable/Sat game.

Besides, LSU would've gotten beat in the daytime.

Wrong. It was ESPN's highest rated game. CBS Kentucky vs MSU had higher ratings.

Incorrect. Both State/UK and LSU-OM had an identical 3.3 rating.

CBS was betting on a UK win over LSU and they didn't get it. It ended up being an error on their part, but not the end of the world, but nonetheless a mistake that ESPN benefitted from.

The Ole Miss-LSU game on ESPN and the Mississippi State-Kentucky game on CBS tied for the top spot with 3.3 overnight ratings on Saturday. The 3.3 on ESPN is the highest of the season on the network, topping the 3.1 that Georgia and Tennessee drew Sept. 27. According to sportsmediawatch.com, the SEC on CBS has won or shared the top college football ratings spot five out of seven weeks this season. That said, the 3.3 ratings posted on ESPN and CBS are the lowest for the No. 1 game of the week so far this season. The Ohio State-Penn State double overtime game on ABC was third this week with a 3.1 overnight rating.

Top college football TV ratings for Week 9
1t. Ole Miss-LSU, ESPN - 3.3
1t. Mississippi State-Kentucky, CBS - 3.3
3. Ohio State-Penn State, ABC - 3.1
4. Michigan State-Michigan, ABC - 2.5
5. Texas-Kansas State, ESPN - 2.2
6. Alabama-Tennessee, ESPN2 - 1.3
7t. Arizona State-Washington, ESPN - 1.2
7t. West Virginia-Oklahoma State, ESPN - 1.2
9. TCU-Texas Tech, FOX - 0.94
10. USC-Utah, FOX SPORTS 1 - 0.70

CBS shotguns UGA/UF every year as soon as the season starts. They never wait and see. Do not care.
