You're joking, right? I mean, do you think Ohio State would be equal to Alabama in accomplishments? Who would realistically. It could be because Auburn, with all their faults, is not afraid to take on anybody. They pretty much have an extremely tough schedule year in and year out. The teams they have as rivals (Alabama and Georgia) are two of the toughest programs in college the past few years, but they don't back down. When you play tough teams year in and year out your win percentage tends to suffer. I mean Michigan/Ohio State is 62-52-6 all time, and if you take out the last 20 years, it would be 57-38-6. (One game was vacated from Ohio State for cheating) That seems a bit lopsided, too, so I guess Ohio State can be glad they have done well the last 20 years?

Are all just one of those dumb dawgs! You’re missing the point. Not to compare against other programs but compare rivals.

Even if Alabama and Georgia are good, Auburn can’t find its way out a paper bag. I think you’re giving them too much credit but would expect them to field a decent team everyone three years or so! Defending your rival, how cute.

I mean if we wanna take away wins let’s take away Georgia success against Florida and where does that leave ya! Stop being insecure.

-Tennessee and Bama have the most top 10 matchups of any sec rivalry
-Tennessee is the third winningest SEC program, Bama is the winningest
-Tennessee vs Bama has more NFL hall of famers, draft picks, and first rounders than the iron bowl
-Tennessee vs Bama has featured more all Americans than the iron bowl

Bama is by far the best program in the SEC but historically TN is their “equal footing” rival especially in comparison to Auburn. Thats just a fact

Now do championships.

I have no idea what you are trying to say here.

I get it completely. But they are in the same state. That makes them a natural rival. And, they were rivals long before Alabama won all those titles. Just because one program gets fantastically successful doesn't mean you drop them as a rival.

Are they struggling right now? Absolutely. I don't think even Auburn fans would argue that point. But, Auburn came painfully close to National Championships in:

2013
2010 (Won title)
2004
1994
1993
I mean, had they gotten a break here or there they could have gotten 4 more titles. If i recall correctly, Ohio State wandered in the wilderness for awhile too. During that same time period, Ohio State won 3 titles. Ohio State went 32 years, from 1970-2002 in between titles, so maybe you should take a back seat and stop acting arrogant?

I mean if we wanna take away wins let’s take away

I didn't take away the wins. The NCAA because OHIO State was caught cheating. That's not a Georgia problem...that's an Ohio State problem. You can cope all you want, but you can't blame me for your own failures.

Advice: If you don't want wins vacated by the ruling authority of the sport, then don't cheat.

To be fair very few programs compare at all too Alabama...maybe Michigan, Oklahoma, or OSU. But Alabama is def the best CFB ever. ND I removed because they have not won a Natty since 88..

Poor Vols. 6th among the SEC charter members since integration. They sure love to pine for the "good ole days" when football was whites only.

LOL. Tennessee has been mostly irrelevant for the majority of Vols fans lives. Auburn has a winning record all-time against Tennessee and the same number of national titles.

I think he has a fair point that Ohio State-Michigan is generally a higher stakes game than the Iron Bowl relative to the national picture...

And the state vs state hate between Michigan and Ohio State has the added advantage of being on rivalry weekend compared to other states that hate each other...

But you are right that a Buckeye fan has no idea what it is like to lose to your in state rival like other states who have an in state rivalry. And that is where the Iron Bowl shines. The having to go to church on Sunday or work on Monday after you just lost to your in state rival.

Then you have Auburn! Why is Auburn not an equal foe to Bama in terms of accomplishments?

Alabama is the all time college football program. No one has the measurables to compete with them. That’s fine.

They just ended a historic dynasty run with Nick Saban. At the same time, Auburn has experienced the worst stretch of seasons in (maybe) its entire history. Other than 2010 and 2013, Auburn has had a shite run going back to 2008. 2009, 2017, and 2019 were the only halfway decent seasons compared to 2008, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025.

So the percentages are skewing in one direction.

Auburn was never going to be equal to Alabama. But the argument once was that starting with Pat Dye, the programs shifted closer to each other than further away. Auburn once had two Heisman winners to Alabama’s zero. Auburn had more SEC championships between 1982 and 2007 than Alabama. Auburn had two undefeated seasons. Auburn was 16-10 against Alabama in the Iron Bowl.

Even after Saban started kicking arse, Auburn seemingly held their own. They added another Heisman winner immediately after Bama’s first. They won the NC immediately after Saban’s first with Alabama. After Chizik, Malzahn came in and nearly won another NC in 2013.

The point is - it seems like a wider gap than history portrays. We absolutely suck right now. And Alabama went on a historic run to add onto their already historically dominant pedigree.

And thats about it lol

Vols have:
-more SEC titles
-more all time wins
-more weeks ranked
-more draft picks
-more first rounders
-more all Americans
-more top 10 finishes
-more bowl games
-more playoff appearances
-more wins against Bama
-more double digit win seasons
-more college football hall of famers
-more NFL hall of famers
-and lastly a higher winning percentage

than Auburn.

Yes in terms of Bamas rivals, we are closer to being “on equal footing” to Bama than Auburn.

Here’s where things stand during the last 70 years (1956-2025):

National Titles: Auburn 2, Tennessee 1
SEC Championships: Auburn 8, Tennessee 8
Head-to-Head: Auburn leads 26-18-3
SEC Championship Game Appearances: Auburn 6, Tennessee 5
AP Poll Weekly Appearances: Auburn 578, Tennessee 550
AP Top 25 Finishes: Auburn 36, Tennessee 34
AP Top 10 Finishes: Auburn 18, Tennessee 17
AP Top 5 Finishes: Auburn 9, Tennessee 8
Total Wins: 536, Tennessee 528
Heisman Trophy Winners: Auburn 3, Tennessee 0

Unless you are 75 years-old or older, you’ve never lived in a world in which you can remember Tennessee being a better football program than Auburn.

Most States do not mulitiple successful programs....Florida is pretty unique in having three national title winners(multiple times each) in the modern era.

I am not sure of any other State that can claim that honestly. Most States have 1 or maybe 2 powerhouses at most...Georgia has UGA, Ohio has OSU..California has USC, Oklahoma has OU, Louisiana has LSU, Michigan has Michigan, Nebraska has Nebraska, etc.

If you read the thread you will see I clearly said it’s impossible for any program to be an “equal” rival to Bama. However Bama has two main rivals (TN and Auburn) and of the two, TN is closer to being their equal rival in the historic setting than Auburn is. Auburn is just an in state rivalry game, Bama and TN have been fighting longer, at a higher level, and more consistently than the Iron bowl
