No it couldn’t. It was never going to be LSU.

Not upset at all. I simply pointed out that resorting to slurs such as retard, and other personal insults doesn’t exactly demonstrate maturity or make your argument any stronger and, if your defense is “LSU fans say bad things about Alabama fans too,” then you’re really not making much of a defense. Two wrongs don’t suddenly make either one acceptable.

I don’t care whether you’re an LSU fan, Alabama fan, or fan of any other school. I have no problem with good-natured trash talk, but there’s a pretty big difference between talking football and attacking people with derogatory names and personal insults.

If you want to disagree with me, have at it. Just make an argument instead of throwing names around. That’s not being “delicate”—it’s simply having enough maturity to discuss sports without acting like a middle-schooler.

As far as your comment about people from Louisiana needing to feel superior it is an interesting comment, considering Paul tells us in Romans 12:3 not to think of ourselves more highly than we ought to. I try to remember that none of us is superior to anyone else, especially over something as insignificant as which college football team we support.

In real life, people respond in kind to how they are treated. If you can guarantee virtually every LSU fan, on this board, will not vomit the most horrendous and slanderous insults towards Bama fans daily, I'll stop what I'm doing.

If not, suck it up buttercup. We aren't here to expound on the righteousness of being polite and gentlemanly.

This is a football board, sir, full of men who like football and aren't metro-sexual and frail flowers that wilt and shudder at the first sign of vigorous and uncivil disagreements.

We like it this way. The be nice to everyone and speak ill of no one board is, well, there isn't one 'round here.

The Sabans disagree with you. They said they could've had the same success at LSU, in the Saban: A Football Life documentary.

I understand your point that people often respond to others in the same manner they’re treated. I’m certainly not naive enough to think everyone on this board is going to be polite or that LSU fans are somehow innocent of saying things they shouldn’t. I’m not asking anyone to agree with me, nor am I suggesting a football message board needs to become a Sunday school class.

Good-natured trash talk and vigorous disagreement are part of sports. But there’s a difference between talking trash about a team and deliberately degrading another person.

I can’t control what other LSU fans say, and I’m certainly not responsible for their behavior. I can only control my own words and how I treat people. If someone insults me, I don’t have to return the insult simply because they did it first. That’s not being frail or overly sensitive; it’s simply choosing to respond in a way that reflects what I believe.

We can disagree, talk trash, and argue about football without forgetting that there’s a real person on the other side of the screen. At the end of the day, it’s still just football.

I’m sorry that no message seemed to trigger you. Don’t understand why it did but that’s your issue and not mine.

Dear Pastor,

This isn't a Love Thy Neighbor meeting in the back room of the church after service is over to teach people how to be more loving and caring with each other and to show compassion to our fellow travelers.

This is a football board. shite gets flung and then, that shite gets flung back.

The pastor is about to reel off an eight paragraph lecture on how you need to be more polite. Or will he? Let's see if his deep concern for the spiritual welfare of posters here is equally applied to all fan-bases.

I have my doubts.

Do you know if Jayden Daniels, Angel Reese and Sid the Sloth are related? The resemblance is uncanny.

Dear Pastor,

I appreciate the compliment, but I’m not a pastor, just someone who tries to live out his faith consistently, whether I’m interacting with people in real life or posting on a message board.

As for whether you’re “mentally challenged,” I have no idea, and it would be wrong of me to make that kind of judgment about someone I don’t know. I also can’t control what someone else chooses to believe or how they choose to behave. I can only control my own words, actions, and how I respond to others. That’s the standard I try to hold myself to.

Pastor,

I feel you aren't equally doling out your morality lessons to everyone. Why, just one or two posts ago, a very vicious LSU fan that has a tendency to repeat everything he says multiple times insulted me in a very rude manner.

Before I can trust you, you have to show that you aren't just a disingenuous false messenger delivering sermons to only one group of people here.

If another LSU fan insulted you, I don’t condone that either. But I can’t control what other people say, nor am I responsible for their behavior. You seem to think that unless I publicly condemn every offensive comment made by every LSU fan, I’m somehow being disingenuous. That’s simply not the case.

My faith requires me to examine my own words and actions first. I’m not going to justify my own behavior by pointing to someone else’s. If someone insults me, that’s their choice and their responsibility. How I respond is my responsibility.

You don’t have to trust, agree with or share my beliefs. I’m not trying to preach to you. I’m simply trying to live according to what I believe, whether I’m posting here or talking to someone face-to-face. That’s really all there is to it. I’ve explained my position, and I’m not going to keep going in circles about it. You’re free to disagree. Have a good evening.

I understand. You seem to save your long-winded proclamations about good neighborliness and camaraderie among men, no matter on this board or anywhere else, to maybe just Bama fans?

An LSU fan using a vile insult towards me, right in this very time-frame, while you were lecturing me, gets nary a word of correction or encouragement to do better.

I'd like to see you directly rebuke his actions, with at least 4 paragraphs of prose, for the betterment of his soul and the harmony of all participants here.

Don't respond to me but, to someone other than a Bama fan.

Yes, he absolutely must be “melting” bc from your perspective he was being offensive toward LSU football.

Poor guy is clearly suffering from “anger” and allowing LSU to “live rent free in his head” all the over weird things you guys truly believe.
Theres no possible way anyone could not like LSU bc of their fans or responding logically to a discussion about football on a football message board.

Clearly, LK has “broken him” and I hope he’s able to get some help so he can finally have a peaceful night sleep….

I feel bad for guys like you that sound like a rational human-being that can be an LSU fan without truly believing any trace of negativity perceived to be a slight towards LSU clearly means you are “melting” , and your life is consumed by your interest in LSU football, and you are allowing them to “live rent free in your head”.
