I know that you are only a troll and judging by your posts probably in your early 20’s , but Lsu and Bama have always had a rivalry. Dates back to the Cholly MAC And Bear Bryant days. Of course Saban going there may have added fuel . Except for one year that I recall of the top of my head that Bama blew Lsu out, the games are usually very competitive. I’m not sure what states that border have to do with a rivalry? The Sec tried to create a rivalry with Lsu and Arkansas that failed. We share a border with Texas and A&M isn’t our rival.

I won't rehash the whole thread but say that as an old timer, (72 grad), the two biggest games of the season were Bama and OM.
For a lot of us ole farts it is still that way.
To the Bama fan wondering what LSU might have accomplished with Chollie Mac and no Bear, I also wonder what LSU would have accomplished with CLM and no Saban?

Our Ex-Coach is their head coach and left us and went to a rival school
Both teams are usually ranked
Bama is always a really physical and tough team to play
Their #1 team in the country right now, who wouldn't get pumped to take down the top dog

It’s a mismatch right now but in 2011 this game was a #1 vs #2. Several other top 10 battles, as recent as 2015 this was I think a battle of top 5 teams heading into the game. Championships have been on the line. Championships, top rankings... the stuff Aggies know nothing about.

It's our superbowl duh.
Honestly, I am not hyped anymore. But for me 07 and 08 were big because of Saban going to Bama. 09-14 were big because realistically the winner of the game would go to the SECCG.
After 14 I just realized our place in the pecking order and that is that.

But Alabama came back and took their rightful spot back & to make matters worse, they did it with Saban.
LSU hung in there at the beginning, but after the 2011 (21-0) season, Bama/Saban broke them.
