Why does LSU get so hyped over Alabama?

Genuinely curious, no troll.

States are not bordering and the series isn't really close, LSU (.324).

Looking around other boards/sites I don't see any other fanbase get this hyped for Bama. Not even Tennessee or Auburn.

Is it the Saban connection?

Maybe it's because we want to beat the one team we haven't been able to beat?

Isn't that the same reason you obsess over LSU?

If you don’t get hyped playing a top 5 team and having a shot at beating them then you are watching the wrong sport, vagina. I guess it’s because the rest of the SEC is fine with being cucks to them and we can beat them.

A lot of LSU fans have always resented Alabama's success. The St. Nick Saban deal just made it worse. 21-0 put them over the edge.

Because they are the best current team in the sec

I am only 30 and we have already had 3 different most "hated teams" in my lifetime

The 90s we hated Florida the most, the early 2000s we hated Tubs and auburn the most, and now we hate Bama the most. It will change again when Bama cycles down

For the better part of a decade, this game has served as a spring board to Atlanta. Sure LSU has lost a few in a row, but for the most part the games have been highly competitive. Sadly, I think this is the first year it won’t be competitive.

Because it was the game that decided the West for a couple years.

Just slightly

Figured this was kinda obvious. There was a "frick you Saban" chant from the student section in 2014. Those students were at most like 13 when saban left LSU.

It's a big game, a recently competitive competition (for the most part) and the thought of beating the best is exciting. Add in the streak and the Saban angle, and it's incredibly obvious to most.
