When he calls offense, he does pretty good. He has a good track record of developing quarterbacks, he has a pretty decent personality, at least from a media perspective. I mean I can't really name 20 coaches better than him so he's definitely in the top 25.

And you know Ole Miss's problems are really related to the offensive line. It has been that way ever since the Baylor bowl game. We've got one of the best running backs in the nation, but our offensive line has not improved. In fact I would say it has regressed. If you can't protect the quarterback which is the case with dart this year, only having one second to get rid of the ball, and they can't open up lanes for judkins to run, you're going to have massive problems. I can knock kiffin only in the fact that he hasn't recruited better offensive lineman, but we could say the same about Saban this year with his offensive line, Pittman, etc.

That's why Kiffin gets a long leash.

He's just good enough that you can't fire him without having the next guy lined up. Who is better and available? Meyer is waiting for a spot where he can win big immediately. To my knowledge Chris Petersen didn't even take an interview during the big money free-for-all two years ago. So who is better, available, and realistic? And not named Briles.

I disagree. You act like Ole Miss is a top tier job. It's not. Ole Miss if it was the only SEC school in its state would be LSU. But it's not.

People have seen what he can do with an offense when he’s at the right place. He gets a long leash because he’s at Ole Miss. when he was at USC they had just been happened by the NCAA and he wasn’t at IT long enough to be truly evaluated.

How many games has he won as the underdog? I'm not saying he should lose his job, never have, I just ask that people look at him more objectively instead of fawning over how witty he is on twitter and acting like Ole Miss is a Vandy level program where it's impossible to win at as an excuse to make him look better

Yeah, he hasn't won anything significant. He draws up some great offensive plays at times, but he takes dumb risks and has just hasn't gotten to the next level. They are competitive , but not at the level Ole Miss wants considering what they are paying him.

He has grown as a head coach since his time at Bama.
He comes from a coaching family and I expect him to learn from his mistakes.
I guarantee he will be looked at by Bama in the near future.

Ya’ll act like ole miss didn’t go 9-4 with Houston Nutt 10-3 with David Cutcliffe 10-3 with Hugh Freeze

Nutt tanked the program

Firing cutcliffe was stupid

Y’all would have kept Freeze forever if not for hookers

My point is ole miss winning 9-10 games isn’t some fricking miracle.

Kiffin is massively overrated.
He’s been the HC at 5 places and his average tenure is 2.5 years.

Raiders: fired after the 4th game in season 2. Al Davis called him a fraud.

Tennessee: Left after one 7-6 season (Ole Miss beat him 42-17 that season with Houston fricking Nutt)

USC: fired after the 5th game in season 4. The admin hated him so much they left him on the tarmac in Tempe.
He had TWO Top25 wins in 4 seasons #18 Arizona and #5 Oregon

FAU: 3 seasons including a 5-7 season

Ole Miss: The longest tenure of his coaching career. He’s 26-14 with his ranked wins being #11 Indiana #13 Arkansas (by a missed 2 pt conversion) #11 Texas A&M #7 Kentucky (by a strip sack) and #24 Tulane (with their back up QB) lol what a fricking joke.

TL:DR Lanes biggest win at Ole Miss is beating an 8-4 Jimbo Fisher team at home by 10.

I'd rather have Kiffin than most of the SEC coaches.

Never said they were banner hangers or our greatest achievements but to act like we are irrelevant bc we are 21-9 over the last three seasons with no “statement win” of any sort is really kinda stupid.

To be fair, OM has like the 7th largest NIL fund in the country. So it’s not like the next coach will struggle to recruit.

Because they see what he says and think "what an idiot" or they like him picking at coaches they don't like.

NIL money doesn't mean much when you're in the same conference as Bama, LSU, Texas, Tennessee, Florida, and Texas AM.

Lane owes most of his career to his father. Everybody loves Monte, and he was a great coordinator at several places.

Lane isn't as good, but he's likeable, but not as likeable as his daddy.

He has grown a lot as a coach since he took the ole miss job. He’s starting to prioritize high school recruiting the way bama UGA etc do and I think eventually that’s the path to sustainable success. His ability to identify and develop good QBs will keep his teams in most games and in a world moving forward where 10-2 gets you in the playoffs from the SEC you can live with the Twitter crap if he eventually gets you where you want to go.

We got popped by bama but I’m not ready to write off this team just because he lost to saban.

In the history of Ole Miss football, what are the greatest achievements?

Genuinely curious.

Because aside from an SEC Championship in 1963 I can’t think of any.

And go…
