Why does Lane Kiffin get such a leash?

I feel like national opinion of him is very positive for some reason (which is weird cause it used to be very negative).

Like he has been alright at Ole Miss sure but nothing to write home about, yet people still prop him up as a top of the line coach.

Is it because he stays active and hip on social media and gives zingers in press conferences so he keeps up the appearance that he has it figured out?

Because he’s a good coach.

Good for 8-4 and 3rd place in the West.

Kiffin is a fraud. I can't get over the number of gullible rubes who still think he is a top notch coach.

This. He's entertainment and ratings, along with being the "Saban tree"

Because he coaches at schools that give long long leashes

Ole miss has never won anything of significance in football so when expectations are low you can be mediocre like Lane.

Kiffin has been just as arrogant as Deion throughout his career but don’t receive the same energy Deion does

Exactly. Ole miss is a lower tier sec football program and kiffen has them playing like a lower top 25 team annually. That’s plenty good for them much like a Dan Mullen 2.0 for state.

Say what you want, but those numbers are better than what Ole Miss traditionally does. He doesn’t win many big games, but having Ole Miss ranked is quite a feat.

Dude it’s Ole Miss. He has already over achieved there. If he ever leaves there, watch how quick they spiral down. 8-4 consistently would be great for them. Not sure what you’re expecting.

I can’t stand him.

He gets a leash because he puts up points Vs weaker teams that’s an entertaining style of football. Secondly, he gets clicks. Third, Ole miss can’t do any better.

To be fair, he did deliver the most regular season wins in Ole Miss history in 2021. Also took them to the Sugar Bowl only to lose his NFL QB on the first drive.

That would definitely be considered "overachieving" for year 2 on the job.

Not a fan of Kiffin…the only reason I tolerate him is because he seems to annoy the hell out of most of you…I like that.
