Well, every fan-base lives in the past to some degree, good and bad, but I was talking about Auburn's ability to get it done after disappointments. Sure every fan-base, says.. "Darn, wish we would've done it" or something to this degree, but Auburn pulls their big-boy pants up and gets it done. If its takes getting a QB, Auburn goes and gets it! If it takes firing a championship winning coach, they do it! They don't dwell in past so much, like some programs do...

Depends. What do you mean by, "Get it done"? If you mean win the Natty, they have one in 60 years. if you mean have a good year, then yes, they do, but there are a lot of bad years in between having one good year. Do teams get brownie points for having a 10 year win after four 4 loss years?

Georgia is my 2nd favorite SEC team, but the mental part of the game gets to them to much. It's why Georgia has lost to Florida so much since 1992, its why Tennessee is beaten, more than not, before even reaching field

You do know we have beaten Auburn as often as Flordia has beaten us over the last 17 years or so, right? In fact, in our last 7 meetings we are 4-3 against them. It would seem they don't have that hold on us any longer. I would argue we have turned the corner on Florida.

Good, I used to love that rivalry

It's be nice if that rivalry turned into Bama -vs- LSU or Bama -vs- Auburn of the West. I've always pulled for Georgia in that game, and living within Gator country makes it interesting, to say the least...

Florida is getting back to where they were. I am excited about what Kirby is doing, so i think we will finally get to the point where the UGA/Florida game will be one that will mean something again.

One sure sign is StrawsDrawnAtRandom (Florida fan) is going absolutely nuts over what is going on at Georgia.

You missed his point. You need to go back and read the first LSU fans post. he said, that LSU had won a title in the last 10 years, and that explains the OP.

Oh yeah, for the record

I believe Georgia has the best chance to pull off a Bama like run right now. They've got the head-coach now, they've got the killer state talent that could support any given program, they've got the fan-base support needed, but the main thing in Georgia's path is themselves. They've got to believe they can do it! I think this past year might have given Georgia that fuel, but only time will tell though...

I know you know this, but Auburn has 5 teams who have either a claim via being selected on a National championship or played for it since 1980...or if you want to use your 60 year time frame.

That is different than having 2 teams in either of those time frames.

Auburn only claims 2010 in the last 60 years.

Auburn was able to beat both of their main rivals.

Which is what should be counted. What the schools actually acknowledge. If a school does not acknowledge a Natty, it is silly for one of their fans to come up and claim it.

I think it is just as viable for me to point out the 60 year thing as it is for an Auburn fan to point out the 1980 thing. They are both true and should be accepted by both fan bases. National Championships do not have expiration dates on them. If a program has 2 and they were within the last 10 years it is just as accurate to say they have two in the last 50 years.

Honestly, what is the point of saying "We have the more recent one!" It's still one. If that makes a fan feel like their program is superior, then it can be pointed out head to head games during that time frame.

I don't see how any Georgia fan can definitively say Georgia is a better program than Auburn....and I don't think Auburn fans cannot say Auburn is a better program than Georgia. They almost dead even, and history backs it up. No matter what jangalang and AU24 says.

Just a caveat.....using the same source of information y'all found this out on it has Georgia listed with several more also. 6. NCAA.Org

ETA
We only claim 2, though, also. Which is what UGA fans typically claim, just like Auburn fans claim for their school.

The point isn't whether they should be claimed or not. The point is that in that time frame Auburn has had 5 teams worthy of being National Champions...one of those teams lost to FSU like uga lost to bama. It adds a different perspective to the time in between titles. I.E. no chance vs some considered.

In the end it's why 1980 is a sore spot with uga. Much like Auburn fans won't admit the whole little bro thing is in a similar way a sore spot. Not catastrophic, not life altering. Just a sore spot.

They have so much practice at multi loss seasons, it is their calling card. One time in their 100 plus yr history have they had back to back 10 win seasons, so they won 10 this year, odds are they never break 9 wins next year, it is what they do so well, lose consistently.

I understand that, but the same source still gives Georgia a claim to 6.

From what I have seen....when I mention the 60 year time period, it seems that is a sore spot for Auburn fans. And it isn't about opportunities...it is about titles. We might just have to agree to disagree. I might be missing your point, and you might be missing my point.

I mean, there are instances that we can say we could have played for a title, but didn't. I can argue this for several teams. Arguments can always be made why a team should have, or could have. What it all boils down to is did they?

That is my point. Since 1980 what are those seasons?

Not we were close in 2012 or 2007...what are the season/seasons since 1980 where you team accomplished something people thought worthy of selecting them National Champion?
