I checked in to see if this was the first post. Was going to be disappointed if it wasn’t. I’m leaving not disappointed. Good job SEC Rant.

LSU wants to beat Bama more than anyone else

I’ll assume the reverse is true

Gives them almost 4 weeks to rest up before they have to play their #1 rival Aubbie

Because we need 2 weeks to prepare for the next opponent.

Probably because it's the perfect time of the season to have a bye week.

You couldn’t be more wrong. It is, was and always will be the school in Lee county.

Two reasons. One is that Coach Saban thinks it is the optimum time for a week of rest and recovery, and he is a man who believes in structure and consistency. The second is it coincides with his birthday, and he gets to celebrate.

lsu does it because Saban does and they can't help themselves.

Same reason UGA uses their Bye before UF. Is this a serious question?

Because it's the most logical place to put in on the schedule. We play 12 regular season games.

The perfect time to take a bye is 2/3rds of the way through the season.

The question you should be asking is why does the conference always schedule the Alabama-LSU game for Week 9?

Because it is the most physical game all season. That is my guess.

Nope. The two teams have been doing that since before Saban came along. I think LSU does it because they want two weeks to prepare for the one team they want to beat the most. Alabama probably does it because LSU does it, and doesn’t want to give us the advantage.

Because it gives Bama a three week break before they hit the home stretch of the season.

Alabama always took the bye before OM or MSU before Saban. Stallings teams usually took the bye in the first month of the season.

It gives us an extra week to recover from wearing ourselves out kicking Tennessee's mangy arse.
