I don’t get it... I mean Auburn is just as shitty as State.

This doesn't sound cultish at all when you put it that way.

Weren't good enough for Bama, but have a great chance to battle them.

I thought this same thing when I was a child, before I understood money can break the rules.

Because they get to play in Bryant Denny two of their four years.

You think recruits care at all about all time wins?

well, they ranked #47 in the nation for the early signing period. Even more troubling for them is that their new coach ranked #67 at Boise State, behind such recruiting machines as Toledo and Appalachian State and 17 spots behind Vanderbilt.

For much of the last 50 years, some of your fans deified Paul Bryant to the point where he was, at times, outranking even Jesus Christ. I really don't think you want to be tossing the word "cult" at others.

Because they believe that this is a practical world and that they can count only on what they earn. Therefore, they believe in work, hard work.

Because they believe in education, which gives them the knowledge to work wisely and trains their mind and their hands to work skillfully.

Becuae they believe in honesty and truthfulness, without which they cannot win the respect and confidence of their fellow men.

Because they believe in a sound mind, in a sound body and a spirit that is not afraid, and in clean sports that develop these qualities.

Because they believe in obedience to law because it protects the rights of all.

Because they believe in the human touch, which cultivates sympathy with their fellow men and mutual helpfulness and brings happiness for all.

Because they believe in their Country, because it is a land of freedom and because it is their own home, and that they can best serve that country by "doing justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with my God."

Because they believe in these things, they believe in Auburn and love it

but Auburn fans are big on the "Family" thing. I've heard that all my life. The Charlie Manson "family" comes to mind every time I hear it, so yeah, kind of cultish.

It’s true. Auburn fans are the only people in the country who actually love their University. Alumni from other schools only love their sports programs. Not at Auburn. Truly unique.
