You would think the owners/moderators of this site would nix race baiting threads like this. Before they even had a chance to get out of hand. This one hasn’t, but most people probably are just starting on their evening drinks.

You are basing the entire motivation for a war on the words of 1 person, which is a mistake and ignoring the mountain of evidence from primary sources that refutes your stance…. How odd.
For your opinion to be correct then all pro slave states would have needed to leave the union, they didn’t, the union would not have seen race riots when people stopped volunteering because they didn’t want to die over slavery. The union diplomats were instructed to ignore slavery, the southern population had less than 2% slave owners (ironically the 2% held true for the free black population too, 2% of them owned slaves), Abe Lincoln was adamant in multiple speeches that slavery was not the reason they were fighting and offered to end the war by reaffirming slavery.
Truth is the war was about political domination by either side (agricultural south vs industrial north) and a generation before it was the northern states that were demanding concessions threatening to leave the union over tariffs.
It just doesn’t add up
