Why did OU need to leave the Big XII?

They had built in advantages, a gay relationship with Texas, and controlled pretty much everything.
So why were they so jealous of Mizzou and Texas A&M that they decided to crawl after us?

Most of us wanted to leave in 2010 when we were invited then, but President Boren was more worried about Oklahoma State not being part of the deal and he turned it down. The new president has had it as a goal since he was brought in. It's cute that A&M and Midzou think it had anything to do with them or Texas.

We would all want to trade Kansas for you but the SEC wants the St. Louis marketplace. At least Kansas has an Elite Basketball program. You...are terrible at all three mens sports that matter.

As much as I want Mizzou out of the SEC, suggesting Kansas replace them should result in a lifetime ban.

OU won the Big 12 twice as many times as all the other schools combined. It was getting boring.

All of those championships are meaningless to this conversation Why couldn’t OU and Texas make the Big XII work?
There was zero push back to anything they wanted.
I’ve been around long enough to remember Boren’s “wallflower” comments. He and Texas became frantic once they realized CU, NU, A&M, and Mizzou had options, but by then it was too late.
And for years after those four left your stupid commissioner pretended the conference was better off.
But it wasn’t, and everyone laughed.
And then you came crawling after us.
Delicious.
