If he was forced out why? in 2007 he went 8-4 and ended season beating the number 1 team on the road.

He was being rightfully forced out. And our dumbasses helped him save face and act like he was “hired away”. Only took us 4 years to discover that fricking Trojan horse

I think by the time they had beaten LSU the damage had been done. I think most of it revolved around the way the Springdale crew was handled the year before.

Forced out at Arkansas, hired at Ole Miss and they couldn't wait to get rid of him, and never hired again. That should tell you everything you need to know.

1) Couldn't coach a QB
2) Horrible recruiter
3) Ego as big as Texass (think Jimbo)
4) Wouldn't let the OC call plays
5) Everything always someone else's fault

A few things...

Losing seasons in '04/'05 (the '05 team had McFadden/Jones/Hillis, all underutilized)

Alleged affair with a local newswoman

Allegedly benched Mustain out of spite/jealousy in '06 when he was undefeated as starter

Allegedly pushed out Malzahn for similar reasons

History is somewhat kinder to Nutt re: Mustain/Malzahn. That situation was not black and white. But in general Nutt was an egomaniac, extremely off-putting to a lot fans donors. There were banners being flown above the stadium before gains calling for his head. The optics/pressure was really becoming too much, right or wrong.

shite was a damn soap opera. The FOIA requests, Nutts text records, Donna Bragg, the weekly banner fly-overs.

That was quite the accomplishment at Ole Miss at the time. Nutt did damn good with Orgeron's players at OM. Then in '09 Nutt proceeded to sign 37 players which resulted in the NCAA imposing the annual cap at 25/class. Things started to peter out when Nutt couldn't recruit at Orgeron's level.

If you lived in Arkansas at the time like I did, it was a complete circus. Everyone was calling for him to be fired weekly.

They probably did as impressive of a job of confirming people to Arkansas fans as a state as I've seen. Some of the most miserable years I had was living there. But beating them a few times helped lol.

If Houston nutt would have used dexter mccluster the first half of that 09 season he would have won the heisman. Houston didn’t make him the feature of that offense until halfway through the year. As you can tell I’m still pissed about it

Nutt was amazing at over performing when expectations were low and under performing when they were high

There's a pic out there that really sums it up.

Then HS star QB Ryan Mallett was at a Houston Nutt summer camp.

Nutt had Mallett working at tight end during the camp.

They lost to Jay Cutler and Vandy that year by less than a touchdown and Darren McFadden had one(1) touch.

Not to defend Nutt at all, but during an interview on Hogs+ before Ryan passed away, he admitted it was just a joke and he asked to catch some passes while other QB's got work.

Hawgeye, thanks for info on Mallett addressing the pic.

First I've heard.

But considering the reputation of the "QB Killa" and the use of stepladders as a QB training tool, benching an undefeated Mustain, and all the rest, it was very easy to take the photo at face value.
