Same reason why State fans think they will be improved on offense even though they lose the only offensive lineman worth a shite on the team. Qb will be running for his life leaving the offense one dimensional.

Oh the lineman that missed over half of the year and you didn't even notice? Ah, gotcha.

Talented young RBs galore and vets like Brosette and baby Fournette

Almost every LSU fan I've seen says that the talent at RB is much lower than any year in roughly a decade.

Brennan the starting QB yall are in for a LONG, LONG year

Interested to hear why you don't think Brennan will excel. All he did was obliterate hs passing records and perform well in the Elite 11. Please enlighten us all.

And I'd agree with them. We haven't seen the youngest guys though. CEH barely got playing time and there's guys like Tae Provens and Chris Curry coming in. The star power isn't there, sure, but LSU has gotten by without 5 star RBs before.

That is what the fans will want, but the schedule won't allow it.

After the Bama game they have three easy wins then Florida, Miss St, Arky and A&M. If they win three out of those last four games, and three before Bama, they are looking at a nine win season. They won't fire him for a nine win season, not until Joe is gone too.

I can't WAIT for A&M to lose to LSU this year and be THE win that ensures Coach O's tenure goes into 2019.

Is a 9 win season bad? If O can pull it off he doesn't deserve to be fired and I'm sure a lot of tiger fans would be excited. A 10 win season would be the first since 2013

I don't think its bad, but it looks bad when a program fires a national title winning coach like Les Miles for a nine win season only to completely accept it when one of their local boys can't do better.

If Coach O wins 9 games with his schedule then he should be given the national coach of the year award. However that aint happening.

Miami
Auburn
Mississippi State
Georgia
Bama
Florida
Texas A&M

You really see LSU going 4-3 in those

Sure.

Pencil in A&M, UF and MSU. All first year coaches, most at programs that need a lot of reworking to be in their image.

So then they got to get one win out of the rest? Streaky Auburn is a likely candidate there.

Coach O isn't going to slowly wind down. He will stay at the 9 win plateau until Aranda goes to the NFL and then he will go straight to a losing season and a pink slip.

Kinda in a win win I guess. If LSU somehow unexpectedly gets around 10 wins, yay. If they shite the bed, then Ed is one step closer out the door.

Q: Why are some fans so optimistic?

A: LSU

I wouldn't be saying shite like that if I was an LSU fan.

All it takes is Joe rewarding his boy with a contract extension after a bullshite ten win season (aka the kind where it happened by beating a bad team in a bowl) and suddenly the whole Coach O situation goes from "weird but cheap experiment" to "destroy the program for ten years kind of decision."

Ahhh the guy who has rushed for 20 yds in his first 3 years in Baton Rouge.

He's only played 2 years at LSU.

And he averaged 7 yards per rush last season.

On 1 rush. Literally 1 rush, against Chattanooga.

Come on.

Only maybe 10% of the fan base believes there’s positives to look forward to at LSU. For the first time in years the athletic department sent out an email in a panic demanding season ticket holders renew before it’s too late. Believe me, the rare few LSU fans truly talking shite don’t follow the program.
