re: If you could live anywhere in the US, where would it be?
Posted by tigerbru17 on 5/5/25 at 5:54 pm
For work I had to live out of state for about a year each project. In order of favorite to least favorite:
1.Raleigh NC - will be purchasing property there. Loved every second. Clean and functional. Great sense of class, progressive in the right way while keeping southern roots/charm.
2.Saratoga Springs NY - Amazing.
3. South Jersey (yes it was actually awesome once you give it a chance)
4. Austin TX - great for a bit but the dirt and riff raff was too much unless you were on the west side. Felt like an oven in the summer.
5. Nashville TN - Fun for a period of time, but if you are not head over heels in love with country music and hot chicken Goodluck.
6. Pensacola FL. - Trash

Unless it’s a small Indian station with one pump, tipping is not the norm. These people are paid. I tipped the first time at a Royal Farms and the kid was elated. You don’t tip.

It was an adjustment. Then I loved every second of it when it’s 7 degrees outside.

You all soft fans need to get your asses back in the seats and represent what everyone considers the best fans in the country. Prove it and stop crying about bedtime.

Raised in Mandeville. Baton Rouge for college. New Orleans post college. Back to Mandeville.
Then 3 years ago hit the road to take a risk on a very big work opportunity. Lived in Raleigh NC, Nashville TN, Austin TX, Update NY and Cherry Hill NJ. Been here in Jersey for just over a year. Due to family illness, just bought a house back home on the Northshore where we will be until the family situation runs its course. Traveling the country for work and living in the various cities listed above was by far the best decision I have ever made in my life. Granted I am heading home for a bit, it completely changed my perspective about how the rest of the country lives. It allowed me the opportunity to know what is attainable and where I want to be and the type of people I want to surround myself with when it is time to settle down and retire.
There is so much more out there. And I don’t just mean moving to Houston or somewhere down I10 in state. If you have the opportunity to get out, do it. You can always come back when you need to.
Perks from some of the places I’ve lived that the locals take for granted:
1. Raleigh- knocking off work every afternoon and heading to one of the 20 public golf courses in a 30 minute radius. Gorgeous fairways and perfect greens. Incredible weather so walking was the standard. Everyone is so into the game that all skill levels are welcome. Nobody had the new money look at me at my private club attitude. It was pure. Met some awesome people and never once felt like an outsider.
2. Upstate NY/Saratoga: Not having any idea how awesome tailgating for a huge horse race every weekend for 3 months in a row was. The most historic track in the country. Fine cigars and cocktails at every corner. The entire town is walkable and the weather never got over 70 degrees.
3. Cherry Hill: Hoping on a train for $18 to take you from your neighborhood to Madison Square Garden/ Penn Station for a quick day trip to NYC. Hit a famous comedy club then have some beers at the first Irish pub in America. All with the convenience of living in small town USA a quick train ride away. If that’s not your vibe, no worries drive 20 minutes into Philly and watch a Super Bowl winning season with some crazy fans that can’t wait to share the experience.
There are plenty of more incredible experiences and great memories made on the journey. It builds perspective. Perspective an extremely important trait to attain.

This has no connection whatsoever to a south Louisiana audience.
These people live in a community with small lots and massive trees. If you have ever lived anywhere that actually has a fall season you would understand the amount of blowing required. They have weekly pickups by the city for leaves that are blown into the street on the curb. It is a huge process that lasts for months. If not you would have ankle deep leaves in your yard and driveway every week.
For those that live in the south near hurricane affected areas- imagine every day, all day hearing chainsaws. For three months straight. This is about the noise. Nobody is blowing 3 acres of leaves or using electric lawnmowers. All of the lawn companies up here already use them.
Downvote away but my EGO 765 is amazing. OH NO ITs GREEN!!!

re: I have a friend from Michigan. He claims to be midwestern. WTF is this shite?
Posted by tigerbru17 on 4/14/25 at 6:55 pm
I live in the northeast. South Jersey. Philadelphia is just about the last “northeast” city looking at the map. Everything west of that is Midwest. The majority of Pennsylvania is where is starts.
There is a strong difference.
Biggest wow moment for me was when I realized that Maryland is borderline “the south” amongst the locals. Coming from Louisiana and hearing “welcome to the south” was interesting.
—I should clarify. I am strictly speaking about the culture and social norms of the areas. For instance, Pittsburg is far more similar to, let’s say Cincinnati, than it is to any city from Philly/NJ up to Maine. Sure geographic area all of PA is considered the NE, but the west side is vastly different from eastern PA / Philly which begins “the northeast” when you are speaking about the people/society.

I can’t wait for the day we move past the current block font. So outdated. It’s like when trucks moved on from square designs to rounded modern looks in the year 2000. Go back to the basics.

Very Zen combo. Group that with a little gym time and good outdoors, you can be an LSU fan for a very long time with no stress.

re: Still not over losing Bradford to OSU. Worst position on your team.
Posted by tigerbru17 on 4/2/25 at 7:40 am
Correct. With how vocal the father is on Twitter about Ohio State, talking to fans telling them it’s a done deal no turning back, and how much better the development will be for his son, bla bla bla.
No way the brother stays on at LSU. And that may not be up to him.

Kool,
I’m not arguing with you about where Bradford should be playing. I’m telling you what a kid his age sees and more importantly l, what is being told to him from the locker room.

Huge miss. I don’t blame the kid for seeing how awful the DB room has been in comparison to the treasure trove at Ohio State. This kid is the real deal.
Just like DK Moore and other big time commits last year before the season started. They all want to be here, but we have constantly fielded a poor product to convince them a change will happen. None of these kids want to be “the change.” It needs to be established and trendy.
One small hope here is if DJ Pickett and company can turn the corner and prove that DBU is trending back.
Otherwise it is too easy to step in and be crowned the next Caleb Downs by just showing up.

re: Cannabis Study - Researcher says THC increases risk of heart attacks

The majority of the most successful executives I work with all over the country (with the exception of the south) rarely partake in casual drinking, but openly discuss THC edibles as the go to. It is extremely common and not a topic that’s viewed as “alternative”. Some of these people are the definition of health.
It is only when I skim the OT on a south Louisiana based website that you find people who believe THC is from the devil and still call it “pot”

Ok RB10.
You choose.
Today who would you replace Eyanson with. Ware or Evans.
That is the point.

Lost a road series to a top 10 team.
You’re the best team in the country and lost this series because of idiotic decisions. That is more concerning. Do we have time to figure this out? Sure. Doesn’t change the fact that you blew this series.

It has been painfully obvious Evans needs to be 1st guy out of the pen like Cowan. This whole lefty righty bullshite only works when you have guys that can hit the zone.
Please spare me the “they have to grow at some time” line. That sometime is not on the road against Texas up 5-2 on Saturday ready to take the series. Idiotic.

Was screaming that yesterday. You pull Eyanson up 5-2 in the 5th. Just to “experiment” with Ware. Everyone knows Evans and Cowan are your guys. Win the damn series on the road agains Texas and worry about experiments against Miss Statw and “lefty righty” bull shite that means nothing when you can’t find the zone. Awful coaching weekend.
