As a LSU fan I can't understand all the negative remarks against bama's qb, Hurts. I've said for the last 2 years if Hurts get a bum knee we have a chance. That has not happened. He always pulls off third down conversion just at the right time. He has carried this team over and over yet Bama posters have praised the qb sitting the bench. I hope Bama posters get there wish next year because I don't want to see him at LSU again. Hopefuly I will get to see your bench qb at bowl game.

I'm not sure it's accurate to say he's "carried the team over and over." He's had some very good moments and some pretty bad moments. I think he takes too much heat from some Bama fans, but he probably gets too much credit from some as well. I think people are just kind of tired of the passing game sputtering for long stretches at a time and see a guy with a big arm and good accuracy sitting there and want to see what he's all about. I like Tua but I'm not as convinced as some that he's going to be what they want him to be.

Because he projects as a running back in the NFL. He is not a good QB. I did a write-up on it awhile back. Very technical analysis.

Conclusion was basically that he's a bum

Carried the team? The games the last two years wouldn’t have been close with a better passer at QB. People see the clutch plays at the end and forget we need a clutch play because Jalen has fiddle fricked around all game. He made some big plays with his legs against LSU, but the kid on the bench is better at throwing a football. Time will tell if he’s a better quarterback.

Might be the dumbest post in the history of the SEC Rant which is really saying something.

How many games has Alabama won solely because of him? He’s one of the reasons (not the main) why our offense has horrible on 3rd downs in pretty much every big game the last 2 years.

The backup may absolutely suck as a starting QB, but I'll guarandamntee you that he sees the field more quickly and passes the ball better than Hurts. We might as well put Damien Harris back there if we're just going to run it.

Except against Clemson in the NC last year and against Auburn this year.
I think a lot of Bama people agree that Hurts is a very talented QB and athlete, they just question his ability to read through his progressions/read defenses and make throws on 2nd/3rd and medium to long, especially against good defenses. He seems to have his one read and then bails out of the pocket if his guy isn't open. So I think some fans are tiring of the lackluster passing game, especially on 3rd down. I'm pretty much of the opinion that this cost them the NC last year; if Hurts is able to make a 1-2 more big throws to extend drives last year they probably win the game. Instead they were like 2/15 on 3rd down, something like this. That state was similar against Auburn this year. However, one also has to acknowledge that Bama's OL has not always been stellar in pass protection this year.

Its a difficult issue regarding Hurts because on the one hand he has won so many games and performed well, but on the other he has arguably underperformed against the best teams he has played. He will probably get the start against Clemson, as he should, but I wouldn't be surprised if Tua sees the field at some point, especially if the offense begins to stall.

I don't disagree with too much of your post. I do think it's hard to fault him too much against Clemson last year. He was a true freshman on the biggest stage. He performed as well as most any true freshmen would have been able to.

With that said, there have been flashes of growth this year but not nearly enough to silence any detractors.

We don't hate him. We just realize that he's not good at passing the football, and he's playing QB.

The guy on the bench will be drafted in the first round, and is a true DUAL threat. He's actually more of a power runner than Jalen, and has the same speed as Manziel

I bet you're one of those "Slow" LSU fans that loved Jefferson, Jennings and Harris too.

Why all the hate against Hurts?

He's lost 2 games in 2 years at a school where the favorite person on the team is usually the backup QB...and both games many fans pretty much put the onus all on Hurts...some of the same fans thought Barnett should've started over him last year...

He's not perfect but he's improved from last season...and we lose the Mississippi State game without him...and maybe the LSU game as well...

That being said, I think there could be a competitive QB battle in the Spring...Tua can really throw the ball but won't know for sure how he'll do until he plays some meaningful minutes in crunch time...

Agreed, and he would have lost some more if the rest of the team wasn't so good.
