Tough to say I would definitely take any coach over Chizik. As has been pointed out, he has wildly exceeded expectations to this point. Most expected AU to turn into a doormat after hiring him, but he came in and hired a great group of assistants that was together 3 years in full, knocked it out of the park recruiting, and won the national championship.

I will give brief thoughts on a few coaches though:

Saban - Can't argue with his successfulness, but do not like him personally. Also, not sure he would be better. He has not outrecruited Chiz the past two years and he has been outcoached 2/3 years by Chiz. He does pretty much guarantee a successful program though.

Miles - Love him as a person. Not sure how he would fare with having an instate rival to go head to head with on recruits, but I see Miles as a guy I would be happy with, same as Chiz.

Petrino - Best coach in the SEC. Just not sure he could recruit like Chiz and Co.

Ritch - frick no. Hate him and the way he lets his teams act like POS thugs and encourages it.

Spurrier - Too old and at the end of his career.

Boom - Maybe, but unproven.

That is about it.

But it absolutely blows my mind how the LSU fanbase pretends they weren't all but fed up with him just a year ago.

I'll confess that no one understood what he was doing with the QBs last 2-3 years and the OC was obviously horrible, but he fixed that.

The thing is, Coaches learn and improve just like players do. I think 2010 taught Miles that he doesnt have to have a flashy offense to win big. 2007 he had this and it worked because of talent and leadership. The next year he tried the same thing and it blew up in his face.

CLM is finally to the point that he knows what he wants to run and that it wins a lot of games. I think the next few years will be much of the same no matter what talent is there. And you will see more 10+ win seasons because of what he has learned along the way.

PS - The same thing happened with Chiz in 2010, now he needs to get back to basics and CAN be a great coach. I just don't think he is there yet, and anyone would be dumb not to take Miles, Saban, or Spurrier at this stage in there career over Chiz.

From a coaching standpoint (recruiting, running the program, on field decisions and coaching), there are three coaches I'd take over Chizik in Saban, Miles, and Petrino(combining his offense with our willingness to spend big money on a good DC and I think he'd be huge at Auburn). That being said, I wouldn't want Saban or Petrino as our head coaches just because they are just to big of jackasses for me. Very good coaches, but I would not want them associated with my school.

Miles on the other hand is a slightly better version of Chiz as a CEO type coach to me and is pretty much awesome, and Richt I see pretty much as even with Chiz. Everyone else is worse than Chizik in recruiting and running the program, except perhaps Spurrier, but he's really past his prime.

To be honest how Chizik is perceived will really be determined by these next couple coaching hires on OC and DC. If they work out he'll be a stud coach, if not he could flame out and be our version of Zook.

Richt over Miles and Petrino? Why? Petrino does more with less and Miles wins a lot more games.

Always been a fan of Richt, the person. Think he represents a program well. Don't want Petrino for the same reasons I just listed. As far as Miles, nothing against the guy, I'd just rather have Chizik.

I'd take Nick, Bobby, and Les. Maybe Mark.

Anyone else saying otherwise is lying to themselves IMO.

The only one I'd say yes to is Miles. You have to love that down to earth, hat wearing, grass tasting, down to earth ball coach. Wouldn't want Saban at AU for all the tea in China.

Why would you take Bobby so quickly? he has not proven he can pull in great talent and especially going head to head against Saban?

Same question for Miles.

If I was an Auburn fan I'd have to check yes to almost every coach. 15-10 without piggy backing wins off of ole Cammy.... not too impressive.

If that is the case what is Miles records without his best players? What about Saban without INgram or Richardson...hmmm...stupid logic is stupid.

Petrino isn't lighting up the recruiting rankings but his team is putting up good results with the players he's bringing in. Give Petrino Auburn funds and resources and he would be lights out here, IMO.

Maybe, but it is not a sure thing Petrino would recruit lights out at AU, something Chizik has proven he and his staff can do already.

I did say earlier I think Petrino is the best coach in the SEC however.

He might or might not do better than Chiz has and will, but it is not a certainty either way.

In the SEC the only two I'd even consider are Saban and Miles. Only if Saban hadn't coached at Bama though.

Chizik is one of the worst coaches in the SEC. You should want to take ALOT of coaches over him. He and Auburn will part ways in the next 3 years.

If you really would take Richt over Miles them you deserve to have the shitty seasons. Hell Miles worst year is one game worse than Richts season this year which got him off the hot seat. You must really hate LSU for you to have chosen that.

I don't hate LSU. I actually like Les Miles. I didn't call him a bad coach. I didn't even say Chizik was a better coach. I said I would rather have Chizik leading Auburn.

What? Chizick and miles couldn't be any more diff. One is a defensive coach and one is offensive. One had success at his former head coaching job and one was a massive failure. One has won the sec west 3 times and one had to have one of the greatest seasons in NCAA history from their qb. One has a phenomenal ooc record and one has a decent ooc record. One is known as a great recruiter ad one is know as a yes man. Couldn't be anymore diff unless one was black and the other white. This proves you don't know what you're talking about.
