Have y’all forgotten who started that beef by asking if Lane was improperly recruiting before he got to Tennessee because he didn’t know a coach could take the recruiting test online?
Was this before or after Lane told Alshon Jefferies that he'd wind up pumping gas if he went to South Carolina?

I know one Tennessee fan that still calls the Gamecocks the Gas Pumpers because of that

If State fans thought Mullen would stay, it wasn’t because they perceived themselves as an equal program to Florida, it was because the 2018 State team was going to be absolutely loaded. All kinds of NFL talent on the defense and an offense that returned I believe 10 starters, including the QB and top two RB’s from a very good rushing attack. I think most believed Dan would want to coach that team, and then maybe would leave a year later than he actually did.

It’s true that he jerked State around with the job shopping thing every year. He even interviewed with freaking Maryland one time, I think it was right when Dak was about to leave.

People were also really mad at how the 2017 season finished for him at State. He had a great chance to beat Bama at home and went ultra conservative offensively in the 4th quarter. State then struggled to beat a terrible Arkansas team and then lost a home Egg Bowl as a 17 point favorite. There was also a perception than he showed zero fire when Fitzgerald had his ankle broken and when Ole Miss was pretty over the top with the antics in that game.

State people deep down would have definitely rather Dan stayed but him leaving came right on the heels of a very frustrating final 2 and a quarter games so people weren’t sympathetic when it came out that he had been talking to both Tennessee and Florida.

How many championships has Ole Piss won after color TV was invented?

National championships won in the 50s and 60s are just as relevant as titles won in the 90s when you are recruiting players born in the 2000s.. Even Urban Meyers years at Florida were prior to when many of next years recruits were born. The fact is, as it relates to 16 to 18 year old recruits, Florida doesn’t have any more tradition or championships than Ole Miss.

Just because most people on here are over 40 years old and remember the good old days of Spurrier and Meyer doesn’t mean some 17 year old from Plant City, FL does. He wasn’t even alive.

Around the same time, but to imply Kiffin was committing recruiting violations just because his comments weren’t that great isn’t exactly what can be defined as “professional”.

Should have seen them a couple years ago when Lane and Auburn were talking

And then he not only turned Auburn down because Ole Miss is a better job. Y’all went and hired our discarded old coach out of desperation. Funny how times have changed.

What Ole Miss is doesn’t matter. Until Kiffin leaves Ole Miss, Ole Miss doesn’t have to worry about marketing itself to a new coach. Florida does, and they may need a new sales pitch cause “we are better positioned for you to win a natty” when they haven’t won one in 15 years is kinda losing it’s effectiveness as a marketing pitch.

There isn’t one single coach in America making career decisions based upon where their ex-wife went to school

It’s not about Kiffin making that decision based on those factors. Networking is a thing, even in college football. If Spurrier were going to endorse Kiffin for any level of coaching job at UF, it would have happened by now. How you think most assistant coaches get their start? Either they know somebody, or they know somebody who knows somebody to get them in the door.

So what if I just joined. It this or go to a sports bar and talk to Wisconsin Badger fans.

The way some of y’all act, the Badger fans would be a better conversation.

Yes. That’s how the Steve Sloans of the world get their jobs.

We aren’t discussing assistant coaches. We’re discussing a very well known coach of a top 10 team.

Point still stands. When he was out of a job after he was fired from USC, it wasn’t UF who gave him another shot at coaching. It was Saban and Alabama. The AD at UF at the time was hired during the years his ex-FIL was on staff. You really think those guys didn’t know each other?

It’s really not that hard to grasp that if UF really wanted Kiffin, he’d already be at UF. It was rumored he’d end up at UF in 2021. It didn’t happen. It was rumored he’d end up at Auburn in 2022. Didn’t happen. Florida fans really think if he didn’t take what’s considered the most toxic job in the SEC, he’d go for the second most toxic job in the SEC?

It’s funny Ole Piss puts 2 good years together and all of a sudden they’re all world LOL. Landmass, you must be really young or have had your head up your arse your whole life. Florida has been kicking Ole Piss’s arse since the beginning of time. Where do you people come from?

Breaking: Ole Miss has never won an SEC championship game. Oh wait. They’ve never even been to one. 32 years of SEC championship games and you’ve never made it. Again congrats on never winning anything that matters.

Ole Miss has led in the series with Florida from 1926 - 1995, when Florida tied the series, then we led again from 2002 - 2020, when Florida again tied the series. Florida has never led in the series in all of our history.

I believe UF needs a Gator as a head coach. Someone invested and loyal to the program. Kerwin Bell has been successful everywhere he has been. He should be given the chance at UF. he would cost a lot less than Kiffin for sure and that extra money could be used to buy players.

That's all well and good, but I think you also suggested Shane Matthews for OC? Isn't he currently a radio personality? Loyalty is one thing. Competence is something else.
