Point still stands. When he was out of a job after he was fired from USC, it wasn’t UF who gave him another shot at coaching. It was Saban and Alabama. The AD at UF at the time was hired during the years his ex-FIL was on staff. You really think those guys didn’t know each other?

It’s really not that hard to grasp that if UF really wanted Kiffin, he’d already be at UF. It was rumored he’d end up at UF in 2021. It didn’t happen. It was rumored he’d end up at Auburn in 2022. Didn’t happen. Florida fans really think if he didn’t take what’s considered the most toxic job in the SEC, he’d go for the second most toxic job in the SEC?
So what if I just joined. It this or go to a sports bar and talk to Wisconsin Badger fans.

The way some of y’all act, the Badger fans would be a better conversation.

There isn’t one single coach in America making career decisions based upon where their ex-wife went to school

It’s not about Kiffin making that decision based on those factors. Networking is a thing, even in college football. If Spurrier were going to endorse Kiffin for any level of coaching job at UF, it would have happened by now. How you think most assistant coaches get their start? Either they know somebody, or they know somebody who knows somebody to get them in the door.
What Ole Miss is doesn’t matter. Until Kiffin leaves Ole Miss, Ole Miss doesn’t have to worry about marketing itself to a new coach. Florida does, and they may need a new sales pitch cause “we are better positioned for you to win a natty” when they haven’t won one in 15 years is kinda losing it’s effectiveness as a marketing pitch.
Around the same time, but to imply Kiffin was committing recruiting violations just because his comments weren’t that great isn’t exactly what can be defined as “professional”.

Spurrier might seem petty, but he’s a professional.

Have y’all forgotten who started that beef by asking if Lane was improperly recruiting before he got to Tennessee because he didn’t know a coach could take the recruiting test online?
Florida last won a national championship during the BCS era. Florida is like middle aged beauty queen. She’s a beautiful woman, but her time in the spotlight is done and she doesn’t want to accept her time to shine is over.
Layla’s dad didn’t just play at UF, he played under Spurrier on the Bandits and was an assistant coach at UF under Spurrier as well. That makes me think if Kiffin were ever an actual candidate for any level of coaching position at UF, he would have already had a coaching position at UF. Then there’s the bad blood between Kiffin/Meyer/Spurrier from when Kiffin was at Tennessee.
There is a loophole that allows for 6 year extensions.
Lane’s daughter Landry is a sophomore KKG at Ole Miss. I could be wrong, but I don’t see Kiffin leaving as long as she’s on campus since he has said she talked him out of the Auburn gig.
Kiffin calling Spurrier his idol implies respect, not friendship. Y’all forget about this? This article implies there was bad blood between Kiffin, Meyer, and Spurrier when Kiffin was at Tennessee. LINK
I am an Ole Miss alumni and fan. I also a realistic Ole Miss that recognizes what the Rebel football program is, and what it is not.

Would Kiffin get Spurrier’s stamp of approval considering Kiffin’s former father-in-law played under Spurrier on the Tampa Bay Bandits, and coached under Spurrier at UF in the early 90s?
Wake Forest signed up to play an average but somewhat solid middle of the road SEC team they could beat to boast their program’s credibility since that was the Ole Miss they had experience with. An Ole Miss team that can shut out non-conference foes is not who they want to play cause getting steamrolled by Ole Miss does not help a program’s reputation. I say that as an Ole Miss fan.
