So you are saying that you’d fire a coach who had the success Kirby did in years 1-5?

Only 4 wins separate the two through their first 50 games, so ... apparently?

Good luck to you if an NC appearance, SEC title, Rose Bowl win aren’t enough to keep Billy around after year 3.

Of those, only the SEC title would matter much. Even then I'm not sure. Had Dan beaten Alabama last year in the SECCG instead of losing by 3 I don't think it would have saved him.

If Dans 4 years were 8-5, 13-2 (SEC Champ/CFP game winner), 11-3 and 12-2.

He’d still be your coach. I can’t believe you want to argue this.

If he had won important games the Gators would have decided that his stupid antics were funny and SO charming. After all they tolerated a guy who was responsible for over 100 NCAA violations - even giving him a Cadillac as a going away gift when it became to embarrassing to keep him, another a arrogant smart mouthed narcissist, another coach who had so little control over his team’s character and discipline that it produced 2 murderers, a yellow toothed guy who obviously didn’t own a toothbrush who claimed that he had death threats when his seat got hot, and an insane clown whose antics drew national derision, but hey he had a very very affectionate wife. This new Gator guy won’t last 3 years unless he wins. If he should surprise us all and actually win a few games, the Gator crowd will love him no matter how crazy he is or how badly he behaves. It’s a Gator tradition.

Wait, so you're saying if he didn't have a 5-6 season this year he wouldn't have gotten canned? Fascinating.

But if he was 8-5, 13-2, 11-3 (like Kirby) and then 5-6 then yeah, he'd be gone. The previous run is basically just like Dan's first three years.

Going to be pretty hard to do with the National Champions from Athens reloading every year.

But it isn’t.

Dan was:
10-3
11-2
8-4
5-6
Kirby was:
8-5
13-2
11-3
12-2

This all derives from you implying somehow UGA fans had been more patient than UF fans would be..I contend we weren’t “patient” we just had a successful coach who had won big games, conference championships etc and if you had the same you wouldn’t have fired him. You said nah, you’d have fired him with similar success.

I don't care one way or the other but my prediction is Napier will win one before the weird dancing dude from Boston.

It’s way too early to know anything about Napier from a gameday perspective and at the end of the day that’s most important.

However, in his two months on the job he’s absolutely on the right path. He got the university to buy into his plan and actually invest in football like the other powers and he’s started building an infrastructure around him that chanpionship programs currently have.

He needs to lock down the state. And early so far he’s been making huge efforts towards doing that for the 2023 class.

The Gators have no patience and a long history of hiring incredibly flawed coaches
