Vandy would have actually made that game fun.

JMU fans?
I think if they get rid of the automatic qualifiers, the system will be fine. But, they’ll also have to get rid of the conference championship games.

JMU got doubled up by Louisville. I say again, Louisville.
These automatic qualifiers are running the CFP

16 team tournament with no automatic bids would have been epic this year:
1 Indiana
16 USC
8 Oklahoma
9 Bama
5 Oregon
12 BYU
4 Texas Tech
13 Texas
6 Ole Miss
11 Notre Dame
3 Georgia
14 Vandy
7 A/M
10 Miami
2 Ohio St
15 Utah

I wouldn't sleep on JMU.

They can’t because the G5 would file an antitrust lawsuit against the CFP.

Well, if they happen to win it would be glorious to watch!

Yeah, well most think the answer is 32 or more teams.
Fricking participation tourney.

Who really wants to see Tulane getting massacred at Ole Miss again?

I do. I dont understand this narrative in CFB. Every civilized sport has a playoff with varying talent levels in the first round.

Same people cheering for Loyola during March Madness hates on Tulane and JMU.
Can’t wait to see them argue for a 16-18 SEC team to be included in March madness over some 26-4 Cinderella from a small conference.

I get the outrage over the playoff spots. Two teams whose fans are screaming they belong (Notre Dame, Texas, anyone else?) could fill those spots.
Instead they are given to teams most think should be playing at the FCS level.
Consider, the FBS needs all these teams. There is a stigma attached to an FBS team playing an FCS team but change one letter to make them an FBS team and they become a legitimate if most of the time unequal opponent.
Giving these schools a couple of playoff spots is the cost of doing business, that's all and if one of them winds up beating their first-round opponent the sport is all the better for it.

It’s also the prime time game. So much for ratings

Just like OM, Alabama and SC fans last year if you’re arguing you should be the last team in a 12 team field you probably don’t deserve to be there anyways

quote:Oh please. To compare ncaa football to basketball and baseball is absurd even at face value because, firstly, it defies logic to compare apples to oranges, and secondly because a g5 football team will never win a national title in football.

Both will be crushed in the first round per usual and we will have wasted two spots and ole miss and Oregon will get to cupcake their way into a semifinal.
It's unadulterated bullshite and everyone who's objective knows it. Stop with this comparing a 12 team playoff of supposedly the best teams in football to a 64 team tournament in basketball. It's idiotic.

Oregon wants their bye, and they are going to get it.
