Eddie Crawford coached Ole Miss for 6 seasons in the 1960s. He had a .322 winning percentage

The current Missouri coach just said "hold my beer."
I don’t think so. The 0-19 season was actually able to grab my attention for the first time in almost a decade. I was at Mizzou when we broke the crowd noise record so it took a lot to get me so disinterested. Attendance only dropped by 1000(officially but it looked worse on TV) and we have 247 top 5 classes for 2024 and 2025.
Gates will have plenty of opportunities to do worse but he isn’t there yet.

Press Maravich has to be on the shortlist. He had fantastic talent and couldn't do anything with it.

Melvin Watkins.
His fecal touch infected 3 schools (Texas A&M, Missouri, Arkansas)

I know it’s Vandy, but Stackhouse is an honorable mention. In his 5 seasons, he went 28-60 (.318) in conference play. If Kevin Stallings can field a competent program there, zero excuse to be that bad.

Stan Heath. DEI hire since Nolan was in the middle of suing the university and calling our AD racist.

Tom Crean was awful and a total fricking weirdo. Went 47-75 overall (.385 win%) and 15-57 in conference (.208 win%) over four years. Last season was 6-26 overall and 1-17 in SEC play. Most importantly, he’s a total fricking weirdo.

Isn't that normal for AU before Pearl?

That corch at Vandy. Mason I think his name was? possibly tied with that corch at Arkansas.

Melvin Watkins is it for A&M. Four 20+ loss seasons out of six. Winning percentage of .353 and managed to top it off with an 0-16 conference record with two NBA lottery picks.

Just on a personal note, I can't recall me mentioning any other name as much as his in this typical fashion:

So in my opinion, I think you're correct that he deserves to at least be in the discussion.
ETA: Damn, he was a snappy dresser though.

Billy Gillispie is Kentucky's worst.
I opened this thread with that EXACT response in mind.
Ol’ Billy Clyde swerved a perfectly solid UK program right into a ditch.
…He also managed to do the same thing with a couple of cars too.

with a .395 winning percentage - a coach at AU wasn't that bad since the 40's.

Gotta go with Wade Houston. His son Allan should have made any team a winner, but no such luck. When you aren't as good as Donnie Tyndall (NCAA whipping boy), Cuonzo Martin, Buzz Peterson, Jerry Green and Kevin O'Neill - none of whom had Allan Houston, you aren't a good coach.

Everybody around here loved him as he got older ... and I liked him as he got older ... but Joe B. Hall has to be in the conversation. Especially if we're talking about those who did less with more.
Al McGuire was the guy that said, on national TV during a UK game, that Joe B. Hall would be his lead recruiter. And he would lock him out of the gym on game day.
