You really can't measure them in a vacuum.
It's likely Auburn or uga...though both teams offenses have hurt the D Auburn's O has certainly produced significantly less than uga's and in that regard helps uga's D.
I'd give a slight advantage to Auburn simply because of the strength of the DL, but both are among the 2 or 3 best this year.

Naw. It’s Georgia by a mile.

LSU is ranked higher than both... and has yet to play AR or Ole Miss
Say what? What defensive stats is LSU ranked better in than UGA?

If it makes you feel better, they aren't top 5.

AUs secondary is underrated. Most of the yards given up have been to big plays where the LBs had coverage or trying to protect a lead and giving up the underneath routes.

It's not Georgia for sure, and about your offense, I thought Les Miles was on the sideline.

Based on stats and points allowed it’s clearly Georgia. It’s not hard to believe with having the most 5 stars and all.

Because they're not.

Then why did you ask if you already knew the answer.

It's Georgia right now. They're 1st in the conference in 3 of the 4 major categories and 4th in the other one.

Bama is definitely top 3 in the sec on defense. I know you lsu fans have talked yourselves into believing this year the Bama defense is crap but that's just not the case. It is not up to the previous Bama defenses but those were absolutely elite.. this is a down year and the defense is still above average to great especially when compared to other sec teams.
I think overall it is UGA, Bama and then pick between Au-UF and then LSu after that.

I'd say Georgia as a whole, but Auburn has a better front 7.

By obvious statistical measures it's Georgia by quite a bit. When you dig deeper for advanced measures it's even more lop sided for Georgia.
That might be misleading though since both Bama and LSU have far more explosive passing attacks which leads to their defenses having shorter rests periods.

It's just not going to work anymore, something it took LSU years to figure out.
This will get down-voted by Georgia fans. But it's true.

Maybe starting front 7.
UGA plays 2 deep on the front 7. We basically have our run defense and pass defense. And both are great at what they do.
It is very, very, very difficult for an offense to drive the field when we use both of them.
