DWag 215: Can Kiffin get the job done? Well, he sure did against A & M. He faced off against A & M in 2020, 2021 and 2022 and won all three.

I can’t see Kiffin leaving Ole Miss except for one of a handful of blue blood jobs.
If Kalen Debeor were to flame out at Bama, then Lane would be on the next flight to Tuscaloosa. If they called Sarkisian, then Lane would be on the next flight to Austin.

The name I keep hearing is Tim Elko

Why do free agents in pro sports value teams in LA, Miami, NYC ?
Location and lifestyle is what matters most after money. That is why UF is still leaps and bounds more desirable that ole miss…there’s nothing to do there.
That’s why I predict programs in exotic locations with lots of buzz and excitement will dominant in the NIL era (usc, texas, miami)

Have you ever been to Gainesville?

Fans still haven't caught up to the new world of the portal and the NIL. Ole Miss went all in on both of these fronts and people are still living in the world of HS recruiting.
substitute Florida State for Ole Miss, and you're repeating the same things they were saying last season. They were on top of the world and knew Mike Norvell was 10 steps ahead of everyone. In reality, you need high school recruits for consistency and cohesion, then portal to fill gaps. Leaning too far either direction is foolishness.

Florida will need to pony up.
$30M Napier buyout.
$15M/ year 7 year contract for Kiffin
$25M/ year for NIL at a minimum (7x)
$20M for coaching staff (7x)
Florida is looking at a half billion dollar commitment over the next 7 years to get Kiffin.

Where do you think the ones in the portal come from? Or Any player in College Football? I’m not saying you don’t use the portal at all…but to build your whole team out of the portal is a great way to have a bunch of me’s instead of a team.

Just an hour drive away from more desirable locations. What’s nearby Oxford Mississippi?

30 years ago while we were on NCAA probation that was just short of the death penalty. Completely different situations

How many guys transferred to Ole Miss last offseason and did so again before the season started?
Walmart buying him players is a whole different mindset. They just went out and bought Cal and a team to go with him. That’s gotta be attractive to a guy like Kiffin.

It's a new era of college football and Florida has adjusted worse than any major program in America. Absolutely no reason for Kiffin to go there unless they make a commitment to competing in the NIL landscape.

Have you dealt with high school players
lately ? Half will leave a program after the
first year. With portal players, they are
required to stay 2 years. Add in the fact
they are more mature, portal players make much more sense.

Kiffin’s next step will be to a college blue blood or the pros. Florida doesn’t qualify.
I think Ray Day when Ohio State cans him
is a likely choice. Then Lane to Ohio State.
