Lot of people pledging allegiance to the suburbs in here. Weird.

Got to go with Baton Rouge. Great schools, culture, music and food. All the crime is black on black in black neighborhoods so since I'm white I'd have nothing to worry about.

I just watched a Frontline episode about how horrible the school situation is in BR. Then another documentary which started "Baton Rouge is a perfect place to live for an upcoming criminal". No thanks.

For me personally, I would be happy in any of Nashville, Knoxville, or NWA.

Duh, Fayetteville.

One of the best performing economies in the nation right now, great public schools, great outdoors, big city amenities, small town life.

Cost of living may not be too bad, but the housing market is...people are dropping $300,000+ for 2 bedroom/1bath fixer-upers. That can get you a whole lot of house somewhere else.

I need something to back this up. Numbers i just looked at have it growing slower than national average. Walmart would do me absolutely no good if I moved there and was looking for a job.

Baton Rouge is New Orleans with none of the redeeming factors.

OP should really include the phrase "excluding your school's town."

Before you run away and pick Nashville, consider that the cost of living is high there (for a city in the South and you don't get much bang for your buck housing wise). Also, Nashville will have a little more crime than other towns such as Fayetteville, Oxford, etc.

um, no, it doesn't

education is also top notch

As far as dollars in actual pockets, yes.

Wal-Mart, JB Hunt, Tyson, etc have several areas of need in their corporate offices with very competitive compensation packages.

It isn't all running registers, killing chickens, or driving trucks...

Athens, Georgia or Oxford, Mississippi.

It's not close, and those who disagree are wrong.
