Not sure why you got so many down votes. Its a solid opinion at least.
I could post that the Saints play in the Superdome in New Orleans and get down voted because I'm BowlJackson.
But Mizzou fans especially love me, so my last comment probably didn't help.

Might've had something to do with the part you left out.

Middle-aged single liberal a-hole- Columbia, MO seems like a good fit.

When it became a primary competitive advantage for successful businesses. Doesn't hurt having Hunt and Walton being large donors. The logistics and supply chain management program at the Walton College is great.

Are you saying that's not right?

If you're a college graduate and have a decent resume, its Nashville hands down- music (not just country) cultural stuff, climate (hot but not Florida or Mississippi hot), plus the higher paying jobs offset the cost of living increase.

Assuming I can't say Columbia MO...which is great for families....Fayetteville is pretty solid. NW Arkansas is nothing like the rest of the state.

I've got two aunts who are retired and they both live in NW Arkansas. I've been to visit them a few times, and it's a nice-enough place. Too landlocked for me, though.
I spend a lot of time in Knoxville, and it's OK, but I like Chattanooga a bit better.
I lived in Columbia after graduation for a year, and I really liked it. It's oppressively hot in the summer, which sucks, but the pace of life and cost of living are great, and the city puts on a surprisingly good number of cultural events every year. Plus, the university is growing by leaps and bounds, and is pumping a ton of money into the local economy. I'd consider moving back to the Shandon area or something, if the opportunity arose.

Nashville is the greatest city in the South. So it wins hands down to me.

1. Nashville: For me this one is easy. It is by far the largest of the SEC cities, with great culture, tons to do, pro sports, etc. For me the biggest downsides are the distance from the ocean and the climate there is a touch cool for me.
2. Columbia, SC: fair size town, and I like the location more than the similarly sized BR and Knoxville. It offers easy access to the beach or a big city (Atlanta or Charlotte).
3. Auburn, AL: Homer pick. It is small for me, but it is growing, has a good location, and of course is home to Auburn University.
Athens and Fayetteville are also nice towns.
I've been to eleven of the fourteen (never been to Lexington or the two Miss towns).

SEC towns only? Nashville in a landslide.

If I were to move away from the Charleston area this would be my personal list.
1 - Knoxville - Very familiar with it, extended family is only an hour away. Bearden/Farragut areas are nice and have good schools. Downtown is getting better and of course I'd have TN sports to entertain me and the kids along with all the outdoor activities.
2 - Nashville - I feel like if I didn't move to Charleston after college 8 years ago I would have moved here. Not sure if it is the type of city I'd like to live in my 30's and 40's and raise a family. I know the Brentwood area is nice but if I am leaving Mount Pleasant I don't want to move to another area where 400k barely gets me a 4 bedroom house.
3 - Columbia - Hey it gets a bad rap but its actually not a bad place to live. I lived here for ayear a few years ago in the Shandon section of town and it was nice. Has personality and it is close to the coast and mountains. There are more bad areas of town close to the nice areas than I'd like long term but it could be a good place to live.
4 - Athens - If I could find a good job here I think this would be a nice place to raise a family. Great downton scene, close to the mountains and the coast and ATL if I ever had to go to that hell hole.
I've been to Lexington and it would be ok as well. The others I've been to, Gainsville, Tuscaloosca, Auburn and Starkville wouldn't be my cup of tea mainly due to where they are located.
Sounds like I need to check out Arkansas from this thread.
