Seeing Anthony Richardson ball out vs. Utah after sitting on the bench for 2 years made me wonder: how many other players had their potential wasted by a coach who didn't recognize their potential?

Sometimes, guys are underwhelming in practice but are performers who just need to be given a chance to shine under the bright lights.

Omar Conner. He was a highly recruited QB out of Mississippi. Committed to Sylvester Croom and got stuck in that atrocious offense never reaching his full potential of a dual threat.

He would have been hell on wheels in Mullens scheme

Pretty much our current entire starting secondary, most of which were going to transfer if the previous staff returned.

Tyree Wilson

He was stuck low on the depth chart, transferred to TTU, and now he's projected to be an early first-round pick.

Shane Buchele

Great example. He was absolutely UNLEASHED at SMU, leading them to a 10-win season in 2019. I've never seen a QB who consistently throws a more perfect deep ball than him. Now he's Mahomes' backup on the Chiefs.

Everybody gets a chance in Athens.

Next question?

Edit to add: we played 8 offensive linemen with our first team unit against the Ducks. And we excelled in pass pro and mauled in the run game.

We have the ability to wear teams down.

Ummm. Yeah.

He had more snaps as a true freshman as Tim Tebow did for Florida.

He was very good as a true freshman at not making mistakes. But he was a 1 read and pull it down QB (sound familiar?).

How many more snaps than Tebow as a true freshman should he have had?

Alvin Kamara's time at the University of Alabama was "a rough experience". He had knee surgery during the preseason, then redshirted as a true freshman when he was unable to break into a recruitment class that featured three other future NFL running backs in Derrick Henry, T. J. Yeldon, and Kenyan Drake.

Due to "behavioral issues", Saban banned Kamara from practicing with the team and suspended him from their bowl game.

In 2014, Kamara transferred from Alabama to Hutchinson Community College in Kansas, and in 2015 transferred to the University of Tennessee.

In 2017, he was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and in 2021, earned his fifth Pro Bowl nomination.

I wouldn’t blame it on coach Stoops. But we’ve had some really good players that didn’t reach their potential due to the other players around them in stoops earlier years. Good receivers that never had a QB, potentially good QBs that didn’t have an OL or a QB coach, good players on defense that had very little help around them. Not so much a problem anymore but I hated it for some of those guys that truly were THE rebuild.

Not that he "Never" got a chance...but Arian Foster's Senior year was wasted by Dave Clawson (the only person in the SEC who could hold Foster under 100 yards rushing in a game).

The year prior to Clawson, he had 1,500 yards rushing and receiving and another 100 on 3 kick returns...he had a total of 16 tds that year. His Senior year he had 700 total yards, 1 rushing TD and 1 receiving TD. So, he went undrafted. He led the NFL in rushing in 2010, and in rushing TDS in 2010 and 2012. 4 pro-bowls, 3x All-Pro...and he ran the ball an average of 11 times per game his Senior season. What a freaking joke.
