I think ole miss will probably be more consistent, and miss st will be more dangerous every other season or so(more upside)... If that makes sense

OM will play better ball. MSU will be more entertaining. Leach has not been a big winner anywhere, but he even makes Les look coherent at times.

JF will keep Saban on tilt.

what the frankenstein is that? Looks like a Caddy grill on an old Riviera or Monte Carlo or is that t-tops added to a Eldorado with a Caddy grill?

State fans, is there a QB on the roster that can throw the ball around like Leach's offense requires?

this is a thread to bookmark and revisit 3 years from now.

not to talk trash but to see how feelings change based on performance, good or bad.

example: look at the tigerrant after coach O was hired

Ole Miss. Leach is going to be a gigantic failure. He can't recruit, his offense isn't even innovative anymore, SEC defenses will stop that shite, in the weak arse PAC 12 he was mediocre, heaps and heaps of coaches run some form of the air rade now. This will be a colossal failure for State.

The winner is the State of Mississippi . As another poster said both schools got an upgrade and both hires will generate excitement w/n their fanbases.

Yep. Three actually. Shrader Had the accuracy in high school but was playing with a bum shoulder all season. Mayden threw for a ton in Texas high school football, but was behind Fitz for two seasons and then was suspended for most of this season.

If neither of them can do it, a guy we just signed named Will Rodgers almost went to Wazzu instead of State, so the pirate already knows him and likes his skill set.

Feels like Ole Miss made the better hire right now, but time will tell. Both guys are upgrades, and both are really good offensive X’s and O’s guys.

Kiffin is probably a better recruiter, and he certainly has a better feel for the recruiting environment in this part of the country. I think he’ll be a better fit with the Ole Miss boosters as well. He had a chance to learn from the best at Alabama, the big question is whether he has learned from his mistakes at USC and UT. The other question is - if Lane does turn things around at Ole Miss, will he jump ship for a better program at his first opportunity? I think Lane has the higher ceiling of the two but also the higher chance to leave the program in ruins. But Ole Miss is clearly OK with risk/reward...

Leach is an offensive genius with a history of doing more with less. He’s a 1x Big XII and 2x Pac-12 coach of the year. He embraces the “us against the world” mentality and he will need it at MSU. The downside is that he has never been able to recruit at the national level and MSU is already at a recruiting disadvantage in the region. I think Leach is more of a known commodity, but is less likely to completely transform the program.

If you asked me who has a better chance of sustaining 8-9 win seasons, I’d say Leach/MSU.

If you asked me who has a better chance of becoming a contender in the SECw, I’d say Kiffin/Ole Miss.

State because the Pirate is less likely to leave if he does good.

Who cares who got the "better deal". Both State and Ole Miss got what we wanted an upgrade. As long as Ole Miss got an upgrade from Luke and we got an upgrade from Moorhead, we're happy

I know right..Coaches with potential and some proven success unlike Big Luke and Big ole Joe Moe

Last gig isn't the same as competing at past gigs before that or his current gig is it?

Leach was trying to recruit Will Rogers to WSU, so that's a good start. Rogers is a protégé of Gardner Minshew which is how Rogers caught Leach's attention. Rogers threw 38 TD and 3 Int at Brandon HS last year, and he is already on campus and participated in some bowl practices.

"Rogers' father, Wyatt, mentored and coached Washington State quarterback Gardner Minshew, and Minshew, in turn, mentored Will Rogers."

Leach says that he doesn't look for strong arms. He wants the most accurate passers he can find. We will have to see if Shrader and Thompson can fit the bill.
