Yep 1989-2001 Tennessee had a truly great run. I think Georgia has surpassed them in all time SEC wins and pct by now

Historically, you have to go with Tennessee. There's no argument that Georgia has been knocking on the door of greatness the last 5 years.

*All time records

Alabama — 864-299-42, .734 winning percentage; Bowls: 35-24-3, .589
Arkansas — 660-452-37, .591; Bowls: 14-23-3, .388
Auburn — 708-411-43, .628; Bowls: 22-14-2, .605
Florida — 664-397-37, .622; Bowls: 21-20, .512
Georgia — 751-387-50, .653; Bowls: 28-18-3, .602
Kentucky — 462-530-36, .467; 8-7, .533
LSU — 731-388-47, .647; Bowls: 23-22-1, .511
Mississippi State — 540-528-37, .505; Bowls: 10-8, .556
Missouri — 605-505-50, .543; Bowls: 15-16, .484
Ole Miss — 615-482-34, .559; 23-13, .639
South Carolina — 550-520-41, .514; Bowls: 8-12, .400
Tennessee — 811–367–53 .688; 26-24, .520
Texas A&M — 687-448-44, .601; 17-19, .472
Vanderbilt — 523-568-43, .480; Bowls: 4-2-1, .643

don't think that's necessarily true. Other than Georgia's run from 1980-1983, the Dawgs weren't THAT elite until Richt got to Athens in 2001. I'd say it wasn't until the early-00s that Tennessee's decline truly began.

Uga has More overall wins and more sec championships since neyland left.

What I wonder is what is the tipping point?

How many years does a team have to be irrelevant to shift this view?

Natty's are a trump card that can push one program over the edge all else equal, but it's not an end all be all. UGA has absolutely dominated Tennessee in literally every facet by which you can compare programs, the only difference being 1 natty to our 0. That one season doesn't erase what's happened in the other 20+ over that same time frame.

You win a couple of blowouts and all of a sudden you've dominated? You lost to Butch more than once.

Uga won 14 out of 20 over the vols this century, so it goes well beyond “a couple of blowouts”.

Georgia has already surpassed Tennessee in SEC wins with 347 (UT has 341 and LSU has 333)

Pretty serious understatement right here.

No doubt. Y'all are fantastic at losing to Butch Jones multiple times and still having the nuts to rewrite history on an epic level. There truly aren't words to describe it.

Tennessee if they can get back to their winning ways. They will! Tennessee will be in contention this year if they get adequate qb play. Fla, Ga. and LSU all have a bunch of ? Marks. So we'll see.xxx

Fairly easy one. Currently, UGA. Historically, Tennessee. Surely you knew this OP.

Gumps are too ignorant to answer your question due to their butt-hurt perspective.

The question IS IS IS IS IS IS IS better:

Tennessee rising and GA in a rut, no longer truly elite and just as irrelevant* as the Tide.

*Face the Facts: That Tua Hail Mary to end 2017 season and give the Gumps a title that could easily have been Georgia’s Title WAS WAS WAS WAS WAS the last game when both programs were relevant.

*SWALLOW THE ENTIRE LOAD FUN FACTS:

1. GA gave up Hail Mary and a title (2017)

2. Bama got their last historical bragging rights for the Saban era. (2017)

3. GA got nipped again in SECCG 2018.

4. GA embarrassed SEC by losing to Texas.

5. AL embarrassed SEC by being utterly humiliated by Dabo and Sunshine who made Brittle Tuna quit like the little bitch he was to the tune of a 44-16 Medieval @$$ beating.

6. Both GA and Bama lost their Elite titles and watched as LSU beat Texas at Austin, beat Bama at home, beat UGA in Atlanta and beat the ever-loving crap outta Sunshine and Dabo and ended the game 42-25:

A) Redeeming Lost SEC honor that GA or Bama is obviously incapable of doing
B) Establishing LSU/Orgeron as SEC Kings
C) Establishing LSU as the only SEC team capable of whipping TRULY ELITE TEAMS such as Ohio State and Clemson
D) Establishing that LSU — who played better and better each week until their best game of the season vs Clemson ended in a rout that further added to Clemson humiliation when Big Dick Joe took The Knee

I went thru this sequence of events to make my point :

Tennessee is much like a rising LSU in the East, getting better and better with each game while GA struggles to maintain the Perception of being Elite.

At this point, before a game is played, GA’s Program is better Marginally until the time of the TN GAME — A Vol victory will make that statement and turn the tables on Kirby. TN will also have to beat Florida. I do believe TN can beat Bama in Neyland in 2020 and Vols continued recruiting success will lead to Vol title shots. Good Luck!

Lost twice in 2 years to two of our worst teams this past decade and one game was a flat out miracle and an obvious offensive PI that wasn't called.

Congrats! Both of his victories are really something to hang your hat on!
