Tennessee is historically better, Georgia is better at being almost good enough though. They may actually be the best "powerhouse" in CFB at "almost". It's quite remarkable.

All-time - Tennessee, but not by much.
Last 40 years or so - Georgia. They've been more consistent.
Although UT has more all-time wins and the most recent NC, UGA has been in NC contention far more of late.

We are where we are even with the program being largely mismanaged and several of CMRs burn out years where he said trophies collect dust and doubters had never been in the arena.

A real AD would have fired him when he said that crap.

A real AD also would have never hired Goff or Donnan.

I'd like to have a natty, but I also like motor boating y'all 14 times in the last 20 years.

Tennessee is on an upward trajectory right now and I don't think it will take much to get them back on track. Their AD is well funded and they usually have good fan turnout at games. If Pruitt can string together a few 8/9+ win seasons and win a NY6 bowl, VOLS may indeed be back.

Incorrect. Tennessee has 16 conference titles (SEC and Southern) while Georgia has 14 conference titles (SEC and Southern). History did not begin in 1933 my friend.

Same amount of SEC Championships and will surpass UT in all time wins within the next 10 years IF we still have CFB.

It did in the SEC and thats all that matters in any type of discussion about current SEC schools.

Still...gotta give the historical edge to Tennessee, even if they haven't done anything of significance in almost a decade and a half.

Hard to argue with this. Uga was literally 1 plays away from national championships in 2012 and 2017. Had strong arguments for being the best team in 2002 and 2007. But almost, even THAT almost doesn't count enough to swing it.

You don't know what you're talking about. How could this statement make any sense when you have schools in the conference like Arkansas and South Carolina who didn't join the SEC until 1992? Or, better yet, schools like Missouri and Texas A&M who didn't join the conference until 2012? Do you just throw out their histories prior to 1992 and 2012 or do we back date them to 1933?

Tennessee and Georgia weren't always in the SEC. The conference titles they won before joining the SEC still count toward their overall total, just like the ACC/Big 12/SWC titles won by South Carolina, Arkansas, Missouri, and Texas A&M still count toward their overall total.

Georgia has passed up Tennessee as the SEC's #2 all time program and LSU will soon as well

UT was once a great program, far better than uga, but then neyland retired for good, and uga has been better ever since.

I don't know man, they are both pretty horrible. I'm just happy I'm not a fan of either team.

Historically Tennessee but the gap gets closed each year. Ut is about a top 10 all time program and UGA is about a top 12/13 program. Honestly if we had won the title in 17 you might could make a case we've equaled them, but alas. Tennessee was such a dominant power for so long and that doesn't simply go away, it still counts. Thing is though they havent been anywhere close to a power in 19 years and are going on 22 years without even an sec title.

They are still the 2nd best program in the sec looking at all time rankings but with each passing year that's more and more in jeopardy

Natty's are a trump card that can push one program over the edge all else equal, but it's not an end all be all. UGA has absolutely dominated Tennessee in literally every facet by which you can compare programs, the only difference being 1 natty to our 0. That one season doesn't erase what's happened in the other 20+ over that same time frame.

Meh...I don't think that's necessarily true. Other than Georgia's run from 1980-1983, the Dawgs weren't THAT elite until Richt got to Athens in 2001. I'd say it wasn't until the early-00s that Tennessee's decline truly began.
