You honestly think the top 360 recruits every year will all go, in lock step, to play in your magical 24 team super conference,

They do it every year at Bama. Why would a 4 star recruit go to NDSU over UK? They wouldn't.

Why would a 4 star go to Ole Miss vs the Super League that pays more and prepares them more for the NFL?

and enjoy a typica .500 season ?

Has not one thing to do with it. $$$$$$$$$ does.

We in the SEC say this all the time. The lower level teams can beat most teams in the other conferences. Why? Because we play eachother and the talent is just better. That same thought would apply to this.

Dude enough with the money argument. It’s not the end all be all. You’ll get to a point where the destruction of image and tradition is not worth the money, no matter how much it is.

In your twenty four team super league - it's something like Auburn upsetting Ohio State on their way to the usual 3-7 season. Think Auburn fans are down with that ?

Why would they be 3-7 year after year.

You're talking twenty four team,

It could be a few more.

Ole Miss and Tulane don't make that cut.

What? Do they stop playing? No. They continue in the SEC.

Here's the short of it. You can not stop any team in the USA from forming a new super conference. If they all got together and wanted it and ESPN says we encourage it, not a damn thing you can do.

I completely agree. I can see the PAC being the first conference to pull the plug. I’m shocked that the Big 10 presidents haven’t dropped the hammer already. They are eager to get rid of Nebraska because the Huskers lost their AAU status.

They consider the Big 10 to be, first and very foremost, a research league. Their CIC (the Committee on Institutional Cooperation) is the heart and soul of the Big 10 and the reason the conference exists, not college football.

They simply will not allow a member school to be outside that CIC group and still have access to it. No Big Ten school will ever leave the CIC willingly. The money makes football revenue seem like peanuts.

No. I promote a new mega conference in which some teams in the SEC go to.

quote:

and you think the fans will just carry on with the status quo? Go from playing Bama, LSU, etc. to La Tech, ULM, ULL type schools and fans will continue to watch and show up at the same rate. Generate the same viewership on tv, same revenue through concessions,

It could be Baylor, G Tech...etc... Memphis. But yes. MSU would stand a chance at a conference title.

Believe it or not, we turn out to watch MSU get stomped in the ground every year! 41-0

This would be no different. You are simply replacing who is at the top.

quote:

Generate the same viewership on tv

Might be a less, but there would still be a contract.

Does Ms ST vs Ole Miss bring in more viewers than a dog show? Yes.

ESPN has the SEC network and it would still continue.

You mean like when the SEC destroyed the Tx vs TAMU rivalry for money?

You mean like destroying the Big 12 when the SEC took TX and OU?

You see, all of the arguments you keep using was and has been used in the past. What happens to the ACC if Clemson and FSU actually do join the SEC?

Your answer, as many here have stated about the rest of the conferences "oh well. Figure it out or die" and not one concern given for the sport.

Now you want that same thought on why all of these moves are GREAT become the opposite when it's nothing more than the same thing.

100% agree. Tell that to ESPN..

Just like the SEC would never allow Tulane in, why would the major brands want South Carolina?

South Carolina is a top 20 football program value wise.....

I know its the internet and we can be anonymous, but please dont be this stupid when on the same internet you can look things up.

Not even going to argue about A&M's success or lack thereof. That's secondary in the world to come. It's about money. A&M has a half million living alumni and sits in a state with 30 million people and a stadium of 100k plus they fill. They will remain.

Even if it was all about money, Arkansas is top 20 every fricking year in money.

Literally it's MORE likely that we add more small schools than big schools. The big schools need to feed.

I started this thread a week ago and it go shite all over, but one mega conference will probably happen.

I said it will be based on merchandise bought and streams. This won’t be adding a Rutgers because of New York TVs since the cord will be cut though. So this will be based a lot on sales. And Arkansas sells.

Tried to get people to list who would be in the 40-60 team league that will share revenue like the NFL, but everyone thought it was stupid. The truth is 30ish teams is easy, anything after that is kind of pulling teeth. And quite a few teams will get cut.

Not in Football.

Oregon – $196 million in revenue, $110.4 million in expenses ($56 million revenue/$29 million profit).
Texas – $161 million in revenue, $154.1 million in expenses ($113 million revenue/$74 million profit).
Michigan – $157.9 million in revenue, $142.6 million in expenses ($91 million revenue/$65 million profit).
Alabama – $153.2 million in revenue, $120.2 million in expenses ($95 million revenue/$53 million profit).
Ohio State – $145.2 million in revenue, $113.9 million in expenses ($66 million revenue/$39 million profit).
LSU – $133.7 million in revenue, $123 million in expenses ($88 million revenue/$50 million profit).
Oklahoma – $129.2 million in revenue, $113.4 million in expenses ($71 million revenue/$43 million profit).
Wisconsin – $127.9 million in revenue, $125.1 million in expenses ($47.3 million revenue, profit not listed).
Florida – $124.6 million in revenue, $109.7 million in expenses ($69 million revenue/$46 million profit).
Texas A&M – $119.5 million in revenue, $95.7 million in expenses ($58 million revenue/$34 million profit).
Oklahoma State – $117.8 million in revenue, $109.6 million in expenses ($49 million revenue/$39 million profit).
Penn State – $117.6 million in revenue, $117.4 million in expenses ($68 million revenue/$37 million profit).
Auburn – $113.7 million in revenue, $126.5 million in expenses ($50 million revenue/$39 million profit).
Tennessee – $107.5 million in revenue, $106.2 million in expenses ($70 million revenue/$49 million profit).
Minnesota – $106.2 million in revenue, $106.2 million in expenses ($39.8 million revenue, profit not listed).
Iowa – $106 million in revenue, $102.3 million in expenses ($53.6 million revenue, profit not listed).
Florida State – $104.8 million in revenue, $98.9 million in expenses ($57.4 million revenue, profit not listed).
Michigan State – $104.7 million in revenue, $107.4 million in expenses ($53 million revenue/$26 million profit).
Georgia – $103.5 million in revenue, $92.6 million in expenses ($77 million revenue/$39 million profit).
Washington – $100.3 million in revenue, $86.1 million in expenses ($68 million revenue/$39 million profit).

Private schools were not included in the USA Today analysis, thus omitting legendary football schools such as Notre Dame and USC. Notre Dame would have come in fifth on the football revenue list with $81 million in football revenue and $48 million in football profits, and USC would have been 15th

I must say, this was a masterful troll. Well done. And I can't resist playing along.

Your scenario is farfetched for a multitude of reasons (outlined by many others already). Is it possible? Yes. Is it probable? No.

And Ole Miss would absolutely be included. The Ole Miss football program is one of the top 25 most valuable brands in the nation.
