It’s not a requirement but it is preferred. Notre Dame isn’t in the AAU but the B1G would take them in a heartbeat.

When expansion talks have been going on it has been stated from their conference they will not let you in without.

Big 10 each school must be a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), and classified as a "research I university" by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
Even when Okie State was looking at the BG10 they were also looking to an invite to join the AAU.
In the end I believe many more schools could if they decided to become a member but really know nothing regarding the process.

My higher education I would take any day over that of Purdue.
But you seem so triggered and your limited intellect does not allow you to see you are actually the butt of the joke in here .
But please keep up with the entertainment you are providing us.

That’s incorrect. The B1G has gone on record saying that they would accept Notre Dame. There were tons of news stories after USC and UCLA announced they were joining that Notre Dame would be the next school to join.

My undergrad was at the Haas(UC Berkeley), My MAC and MBA from Kenan-Flagler(UNC). I just accepted for a Ph.D program at Fuqua(Duke) in the fall, though I also just got accepted elsewhere but live 20 minutes from the Duke campus.

your pretty smart then. why do you hang out with all these fans of loser schools, you know what ppl think abt the sec

There was more than speculation. Are you really trying to say that the B1G would pass on Notre Dame because they aren’t in the AAU?

I am from the south and my family has been here in the south since the early 1600's. And besides that many of these school I would send my kids to if they got in. The only reason I went to Cal was it was instate for me when I got of the USMC. UNC was instate once I moved back.
The truth of the matter is the majority of the schools in the south especially in the SEC are great schools but people from outside the south tend to stereotype to make themselves feel better. But the funny part is all these people from the Northeast, Midwest, and California continue to leave those areas for the southern states.
Many SEC schools are seeing record numbers for out of state students including the areas mentioned above.
Plus I have been to UA games since I was 8 when my uncle work there. Roll Tide

I think ND is a team anyone would take if they could. I am sure they would make an exception but the BG1 was pretty smug in their assertions on who they would regarding AAU and every school so far has been a member of the AAU.

I think you mean: you’re pretty smart, not your, unless “you’re”(see what I did “there” smart guy) referring to his particular smart in which case “you’re” statement is still stupid but at least it’s not grammatically stupid

link. also I will do as I please this isnt your fricking board
Do your own homework. Literally just Google the admissions stats
Purdue would be middle of the pack academically in the SEC. Purdue has a 70% acceptance rate and a mid-range ACT score that begins in the mid-20s.
UGA, for example, is objectively closer to Duke than Purdue is to UGA.

They also knew Nebraska was going to lose aau status before arriving to the big ten and followed through anyways. They’ve also offered notre dame before. It’s just like muh big ten schools have to be contiguous. Until usc was interested then they didn’t have to be. They probably favor these things but thinking College sports are about anything other than money now is an old way of thinking and won’t fit in the new world of college football

the fact is that the whole conference is seen as a bunch of dumb rubes and honestly this board pretty much would provide endless laughs over cocktails in Manhattan
Hahahhaha you’re from the fricking Midwest. Your region is dying. I live in Palm Beach, FLORIDA - our entire town are millionaires / billionaires from Manhattan. Trust me, the states of Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, the Dakotas, etc. are the laughing stock of this country.
The wealthiest in the West Coast and Northeast are MOVING TO the South - Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Houston, Charlotte, Northern Virginia, Austin, Raleigh, Nashville, Tampa, Palm Beach, Naples, Charleston etc.
UGA has the same admissions stats as UVA / UNC, some of the hottest women in the country, best college town, and places top in Atlanta and South Florida finance.
Take your provincial rube arse back to Indiana.
There’s a reason why Florida, Texas, Georgia, the Carolinas, Virginia, etc. are all growing in population - wealthy states, strong economies, incredible colleges, desirable cities, desirable weather, and on the coast.
You landlocked fricks are either farming in your nine-month winters or dedicating your entire day to another conference’s message board.
also, Purdue has a 70% acceptance rate, you stupid frick.

I am direct descendant of 3 different families on my mother's side at Jamestown. I am confident on the 3 lines but they arrived after the first voyage though one name is believed to be related to one with the 1607 arrival. My family on my father's side arrived 1753 in PA and after the War their land deed was 1784 in east TN(Then NC still)
