When conferences inevitably expand again, we need to focus on North Carolina and Virginia.

Why? To capture additional population centers. These are the 12 most populated states in the United States:

1. California 40 million
2. Texas 30 million
3. Florida 22.2 million
4. New York 20 million
5. Pennsylvania 13 million
6. Illinois 12.5 million
7. Ohio 11.8 million
8. Georgia 11 million
9. North Carolina 10.7 Million
10. Michigan 10 million
11. New Jersey 9.2 million
12. Virginia 8.7 million

As of 2024, the BIG will have a presence in California, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and New Jersey.

The SEC will have a presence in Texas, Florida, and Georgia. Adding North Carolina and Virginia would be a good addition for the SEC because those states are rapidly growing. The traditional BIG states are declining in population. By adding North Carolina and Virginia universities, it will also keep the BIG out of the South.

Now I am not in favor of expansion. But it will happen nonetheless. So we might as well put ourselves in the best possible position.

UNC and UVa make sense. ECU is a decent school with a strong fanbase but overall not on SEC level. Maryland left the ACC and is not leaving the Big Ten now most likely.

How anyone thinks of the SEC as we, or has any pride in the geographic identity anymore, is beyond me. The conference is fine, and was fine prior to the last two expansions.

Oh so going the Rutgers strategy? Dumb. Gotta go with schools that actually have a winning mentality and invest loads of money into their athletic programs, with boosters supporting it too. Schools that actually give a shite about winning in multiple sports and have proven history with the current budget(s) over the decades.

Okie State was 19th in media views. Majority of our alumni lives in Dallas, Kansas City along with a good portion of Oklahoma obviously. Guarantee this region of people watch way more college sports than any yankee/west coast regions of similar population. You can laugh, but I’m from Houston..the 4th biggest city. Okstate is the non-gay A&M that hates all the rivals Texas does with a party/heavy Greek life college atmosphere.

Get schools that actually invest and want to be in the SEC, that also fit the culture. You can’t backroad in fricking Austin.

ECU is in a prime market with a ton of upside. It already has a 50,000 seat football stadium, a loyal fanbase, with decent secondary fan support. They would be the second best option in North Carolina. They would be a natural rival for South Carolina, an instate rival for UNC, and would fit better than most. They have the recruiting base that could make them a mid tier SEC school pretty quickly.

If Virginia or UNC wouldn’t jump they would need the next call.

never considered. It’s neither south nor eastern, lacks recruiting grounds or historical significance. It’s has 1 booster and nothing else to add.

UVA & UNC are both excellent scholastically and consistently very good in basketball as well as other minor sports.

Football, it depends on the year or decade (with Virginia)...

You may be right, but it would be a "take" for sure for many reasons imo...

agreed. just think that uva and UNC would look down there noses at being in sec,

partically geographically I could see uva jumping to the b10

regardless I think the acc is doomed and the fragments end up in b10 and sec .

ECU is not a better option than UNC or NCSU. It is a respectable program however.

UNC and UVA should go to the SEC. If UNC goes to the Big Ten I'll be devastated.

that said when youre having discussion like this you unfortunately have to take them and there fricking ratings into account, a lot more so than say what the fans want. because nobody driving this gives a loving frick about what fans want except as it effects the income

only way we can effect any of this is through ratings attendance and donations. and lets be serious here the schools could trot out entire teams of trannies who literally shite on the American flag during the anthem and NOBODY is going to stop watching and spending . remember how pissed ppl were at the NFL lol yea that lasted abt two weeks

bunch of fricking saps

ECU is a much better option than NCST. NCST has comparable facilities, records, and fanbases. And that’s with NCST at its peak in terms of conference, in state rivals, budget. ECU is their equivalent with less budget, exposure, no real rivalries, and no TV money. NCST has peaked, ECU could take the next step with SEC money, SEC exposure, and a couple of rivals.

Dude Stilly is 2 hours from Fayetteville we share a lake during the summer (Grand Lake) with the hogs fans since a lot are from Tulsa, and many Pokes are from Arkansas.
Stillwater and LSU are the same distance to A&M and Texas. It’s closer for you to come here than the Texas schools…

3 hours from downtown DFW, 3 hours from KC so recruiting is fine Gundy just blows at it. We do have another billionaire booster, all the others are Oil&Gas individuals and companies, and regardless T-Boones son handles the donations now. We dumped $60 million from 1 person for our baseball stadium which is a top 3 facility, I’m sure our indoor football practice facility is better than half the SEC schools, I havnt seen a losing season since 2005, regardless of SEC competition or not. Our athletes are primarily from Texas, last time I checked there’s way more talent there than Tennessee in just about everything except buttchugging. Invite more schools that rely on brand name as they piss away their athletic budget with no success or updated facilities.

Not seeing any mentions of Virginia Tech or West Virginia. Seems like both would fit in the SEC even better than snooty UNC and UVA.
