How loathsome of an a-hole do you have to be to have virtually your entire squad walk out the door on you?

But if he dislikes the coach and/or staff, why would he express his gratitude to them?

In any event, UGA obviously has a major problem with their basketball program.

Georgia being so bad at basketball has to be the most baffling out of all SEC teams/program performance. I am not sure if there is a close second.
Yeah.

For all the 1980 jabs, we've at least been in the hunt several times since then. We've won one NCAAT tournament game in the last 20 years.

Absolutely embarrassing.

The point being, a lot of coaches - probably the vast majority - are dishonest pieces of shite out on the recruiting trail, and teenage boys aren't well versed in sizing up sleazy car salesmen.

Neither apparently are grown men making the hiring decisions nor the fans paying for the pleasure of losing

Recruits hear what they want to hear and Crean is undoubtedly good at selling them on a vision. Basketball especially, class sizes are small and not everyone has a standing offer to a blueblood program. So you look at, say, Georgia and Dayton and while the latter program has more recent success the former is a bigger school in a bigger conference with more potential exposure which outweighs any negative grumblings (plus most current players aren’t going to tank their own program, especially when adding more talent can only improve their situation).

Because Wheeler is a legitimately good and smart guy. I don’t know that he personally hates Crean (it’s only been suggested that the team as a unit was unhappy with him) but even if he did, you don’t burn that bridge publicly.

The grown men making the hiring decisions are far more concerned with how successful the sleazy car salesman is at moving inventory than they are with the fact that the inventory he's moving is mostly lemons.

The A10 went like 5-2 against the SEC last year during regular season tee hee.

In our case all lemons

Those same ADs though will get all somber after a “fact finding mission” and get super cereal about it not happening again.

Always worth remembering that the ultimate goal of the coach is to win. The ultimate goal of the Athletic Director is to keep the fundraising lines flowing to the department and the school.

I don’t know how many big donors are calling Josh Brooks this morning threatening to withhold donations unless Crean is fired but I would guess it ain’t too many.

The real paradox is how he was getting all these bluebloods to start with.

Just to clear this up, blue chip is the term I believe you were looking for.

And to be really clear, Crean landed some really good 4 star players but I believe Edwards is the only one who would qualify as a true basketball blue chip player.
