What’s your opinion on gambling at college stadiums?

Survey shows Nebraska Cornhuskers fans favor alcohol sales, OK with gambling at Memorial Stadium
The article goes on to say that gambling outside of race tracks is not yet permitted in Nebraska, but for the athletic department to take a survey of 220,000+ people, it seems like it’s an idea they are tossing around.
I know a lot, if not all, SEC stadiums now serve alcohol. That seems to be a foregone conclusion.
I know not all SEC states have legalized gambling, and that would take a lot of legislation to pass. Not sure how I feel about the gambling issue, I would have to see how that would work out at other schools first.

We discussed at the Gamblers Anonymous meeting and the vote was "yes".

I think its less problematic than the zombies you see at the slot machines in Tunica/Philly/wherever blowing what little money they have. Most people at games will be at least lower-middle class

Enh, I'm not sure about gambling in the stadium. As for alcohol sales... yes but for Pete's sake if a small coke costs more to buy than most Russians make in a year beer would outrageous. In fact it is outrageously priced in the stadiums/arenas that sell beer.
I'll drink my booze in the stadium the way God intended... by smuggling in 190 proof Everclear and taking straight shots until security has to drag me out of the stadium for doing the weenie dance on the sidelines.

No need to do it if you just pass mobile sports app based gambling in each SEC state. All you would need to do is have strong in stadium Wi-Fi like C Spire put in for Ole Miss and you are done. No need to pass a new rule on campus.

it would be run by the government and you’d do far better with a bookie. they’re more honest.

U of A was going to sell alcohol at Bryant-Denney until Tuscaloosa saw it as a way to make money and taxed it. So, no alcohol sold at the stadium for the foreseeable future.

Meh, any mobster or big fish using gambling to influence a game won't be making cash bets in a stadium.
Would be bad to show odds on a jumbotron, though.

I had no clue gambling was as big as it is until about a year ago

I don't see why we need gambling at the venue itself. That's tacky. Do it on an app or whatever.

We're supposed to be getting one in Arkansas, but I don't gamble, so I don't know much about it.

It seems like a rather niche thing that doesn't have a ton of precedent and isn't really needed.
People want to drink at the games because they already drank at the games. And when they go to MLB, NFL, etc. games, they buy beer there. It's just normalizing something that was already happening. And normal people partake and are strongly in support.
Is there any real need/push for on-site gambling at CFB venues? I think gambling is a vice but I'm not passionately against it (and partake for sport periodically). But the push to expand gambling seems like something that is well addressed with online gaming. Anyone passionate about needing on-site gambling at a stadium strikes me as a likely degenerate.
