What's the tie breaker for the divisionless SEC CG?

I can't find any language on that best I've searched. Using last year's standings it would have been Georgia and Tennessee with Tennessee owning head to head tie breakers over 6-2 LSU and Alabama. But in a scenario where they didn't all play each other, whats going to be the tie breaker criteria?

If bama is involved they will flip a coin with an elephant on both sides

I’m pretty sure it’s tied to the playoff rankings in some way if no head to head

Good Lord LSU fans sure have battered woman syndrome.

Believe it or not, not everything on earth exists to cater to Alabama

I’m sure it will be reasonable and every poster on this site will agree with it wholeheartedly.

I can tell that UGA has never been in the SEC West.

back to the OP, that's a valid question.

I looked at the schedules a bit for 2024, and so far: LSU, Kentucky, Miss St do not play each other. Or LSU, Texas, Tennessee.

In theory, EACH can go 12-0.
How do you choose which 2 play in Atlanta?

And about that- I looked, using LSU (as that's my team, and then looked outward). There are groups of 3 everywhere. For example, there's also:
Alabama, Texas, Ole Miss
Georgia, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt

You can search and find a bunch; USUALLY there's a team you just don't see that happening. But like I said: LSU, Texas, Tennessee... those are all potential contenders, in the future.

SEC tiebreakers

Will probably use the same ones we’ve been using in divisions

Which is a good argument for divisions of some sort. Granted there could be tiebreakers with divisions but at least each team had a chance to control their destiny instead of relying on polls.

I think it's

1. Conference record
2. Head to head
3. Playoff rankings

So last year UGA would be in with an 8-0 conference record.
3 teams would be tied with a 6-2 conference record (Tennessee, Bama and LSU).

Since LSU won the head to head with both Bama and LSU, they'd be the #2 team in the SECCG.

If they had a situation where LSU beat UT who beat Bama... then it would have been playoff ranking (which would have been Bama going into the SECCG).

I’m not sure you need a championship game anymore once playoffs expand

You might be better being the third team left out and getting the extra rest

Would not be shocked if you see a team rest players in that game

That's a disaster for my scenario

Let's say LSU, Tennessee, Texas all go 12-0
1. Conference record: will all be 8-0
2. Head to head: will all be 0-0
3. Playoff rankings: so, a poll of some sort

I would guess Tennessee (wins over Alabama, Georgia and Oklahoma) would be 1st,
then it's a tossup between LSU (wins over Alabama and Oklahoma) and Texas (Georgia and Oklahoma).

What's truly insane is the playoff format. Under this scenario, I'm sure all 3 get in, but only one will be a top seed. That means a 12-0 SEC team would be the 5th seed.

But, as presented in the responses, 3 teams COULD be 12-0.

Therefore, per your steps, #'s 1 & 2 won't work.

Oh, I agree it's unlikely; but "don't worry, it'll never happen" sounds like a Pac 12 strategy to deal with potential defections.

And for the record, I didn't search very deeply to see what combos I could find. The fact is, I spent about 3 minutes, and came up with 3 teams that are currently ranked in the preseason this year, that are all within the top 11 of the AP's alltime poll. It's not like one of them is Vanderbilt.
