“Trail of Tears” now for FSU. I have seen 11 take much, much better teams to Omaha and come home empty.

Should’ve been more ... both arky and OM should’ve been in Supers against non SEC teams... instead one is guaranteed to be eliminated .

So glad we get to grow the sport and let Michigan go to Omaha though :rollseyes

Blame UCLA and Oregon State.

The defending national champions couldn't even get out of their own regional and the #1 overall seed couldn't win a super against one of the last teams in.

I watched a good bit of the Michigan-UCLA series. Michigan earned it by playing well.
They did not back in or luck into it.

I remember them playing at Dudy Noble in 1985. They had a great team i. e. Barry Larkin & Co. They took us to a winner take all finale in the Regional that year.

So no reason to disparage them this year. They are a good ball club.

Why are you acting like beating UCLA would have been a foregone conclusion?

maybe I should've picked a different team I guess but my point is these blatant SEC supers matchups solely to eliminate conference teams for the sake of adding different teams is BS...

It's all proximity, imo. Should Ole Miss fly to LA to play UCLA?

If anything, they set it up to have the Super Regionals look like this:

SEC: 6 (6 advanced, 4 to CWS)
ACC: 3 (4 advanced, 2 to CWS)
PAC 12: 3 (2 advanced, 0 to CWS)
Big 12: 3 (2 advanced, 1 to CWS)
American: 1 (1 advanced, 0 to CWS)

2017 was not the best team Sully took to Omaha. It was just the best team once they got there.

If they treated it as a big time sport then yea, they should. I get regionals trying to be located close to schools, but super regionals should be #1-16 regardless of area.

Inter-conference and inter-regional matchups should not be a problem at all at that point.

But don’t regionals feed super regionals? Honest question

I get what your saying about matching up teams in a Regional to potentially play a team from a different conference in a SR.
In the SEC’s case, it is impossible because we had ten teams invited, so it is possible that two of our teams will match up in a SR unless they reseed the teams after the Regional round which they are not going to do.

Heck they had Oregon State and UCLA paired together. Not really fair to them except that Michigan messed it up by winning the Regional and then the SR.

Like the problem of the Bridges of Konigsbergs after you have more than 8 teams invited the possibility exists that two of your conference teams will meet in a SR. Unfortunately this year it was Ole Miss and Arky. Two years ago it was State-LSU and last year it was State - Vandy. This year you could have had UGA-LSU except Florida State messed that up by winning.
