VOLS at 23-1, wondering where this stacks up historically. I figure some baseball blue blood school fans would know this info.

Impressive. But the best team in March is never the best team in June.

This boasting will NEVER backfire. Congrats on your SEC CHAMPIONSHIP and CWS CHAMPIONSHIP!!

I'm an Auburn fan but I'll say it anyway. You sound like Auburn basketball fans did in January.

Anything less than a title right now will be a huge bust

Nobody knows because it doesnt matter about how you start

Carolina started out 22-0 in 2000 I believe. We had the 3 best pitchers in CBB (the killer B's). We lost to ULL in the Supers. They threw junk pitches and really messed with our HR hitters.
honestly looking back at it, Tanner was new at the helm (4th year), this was his first really good team and they just didnt finish. they went 56-6 for the year.
Point being, that may have been the best team ever at USC and we choked. thats baseball
thats also to say if you can keep Vitello, he will win at UT, just like Tanner did at USC

LSU Hoops improves to 12-0, beating Lipscomb 95-60
quote:
For the first time since 2000, the LSU men's basketball team finishes non-conference play with an undefeated record.
The Tigers cruise to a 95-60 victory over Lipscomb with one of their best players in Tari Eason.
LSU was fine without him, shooting 53 percent from the field, including 12 for 22 on 3 point attempts.
The Tigers were led by Darius Days who had 21 points, and 6 boards, and point guard Xavier Pinson who had 17 points and 5 assists.
LSU dominated the paint outscoring the Bison's 56-22, and in fast break points winning 21-5...
"We won, we’re 12-0, we’ve got to get a lot better heading into the SEC. We turned it over 10 times in the second half, gave up nine points and three three’s in the last four minutes to get to 60 points. I liked the way we moved the ball – six guys in double figures, would’ve been seven with (Alex) Fudge, he was right there. That was a positive. Twenty assists, that was a positive," said LSU head coach Will Wade.

Congrats TN but dang you and a couple other posters sure like jinxing yourselves. See basketball as an example.

You could say North or South...on the Carolinas, and still be on track. Looking at the schedule (unless I'm missing it somewhere), that 2000 UNC team started 21-0. They were swept in their first ACC series by Georgia Tech, and USCe started 22-0 (losing their first game in game 3 of their first SEC series of the year against Florida).
So the two state schools in the Carolinas started the season 43-0 that season. How crazy is that?

In terms of what? Longest winning streak to start a season, Longest winning streak to start an SEC season?
In the SEC, Vandy in 2013 probably had the best regular season of all-time going 51-5 entering the SEC tournament with a 26-3 SEC record (best SEC record ever). They lost in the super regionals
Outside the SEC, FAU started the season 40-1 in 2009, tying the NCAA record for consecutive wins at 34. Texas also started the season 34-0 in 1977. Both teams were bounced in the regionals. Baseball is a weird sport like that

Yes, great info. Thanks.

Oregon state started out 28-1 in 2017, finished the regular season at 49-4 overall 27-3 in conference play. Started out 2-0 in Omaha before losing back to back against LSU in the semis to finish the season 56-6. That’s probably the best college season I can recall (too young to remember the Carolina teams already mentioned) and they didn’t even make the cws finals. Baseball is funny that way.

What difference does it make. Auburn would have hung with and very possibly beaten any team in the country on a neutral court in January. We were merely above average by March.
Tennessee is a dominating team right now, and even if they trail off by the CWS it doesn't change the fact that they were, in fact, dominating.
Now, you may well have to eat shite for stuff you said, but on a substantive level I don't know why it matters. Tennessee claiming to be the best when they are the best won't be stupid if they're not the best later (nor is Serraneux going to impact that).

2021 Fairfield team was 28-0 before losing 1 regular season game. Finished the season 39-5 with a loss to Texas in the regional final

Yea - if LSU or Arkansas were 23-1 and 6-0 in the SEC, coming off of an absolute dick stomping of the #1 team in the country on the road all while averaging winning games by 7+ runs or whatever it is they'd be all over this board letting us know it.
- Georgia Southern is 17-4 outside of their UT series, and took 2 of 3 in their 3 games vs GT/UGA. Tennessee swept them and outscored them 35-3.
- They beat Baylor and Oklahoma in Houston
- They beat South Carolina in 3 games by a combined score of 23-5
- They beat #1 Ole Miss in Oxford in 3 games by a combined score of 26-7
Tennessee is the best team in college baseball right now and people seem to be fighting against that because Serraneaux pisses them off.

Meh, at this point, the only fans I see trying to fight against Tennessee being #1 are a few Arkansas fans. The new back and forth thing they have with Tennessee fans is really weird and random, and I don't even know where the beef started
What I don't get is how Dallas Baptist still has the #1 RPI with a 15-8 record. They do have a strong OOC and those games are away from home. Tennessee is 10-1 against Q1 teams, DBU 8-8. This is kind of one of those times where the RPI both sucks at this point in the season and def has some inherent issues in the algorithm
