A&M started 24-0 in 2015. I think the best in the SEC. I believe UK went 20ish-0 in the early 2010s.
A&M's best season was 57-5 going into the regional finals (pre supers).

The win was the 24th in a row for the Aggies, breaking the SEC record of 23 set by LSU in 2008. It is just the sixth win streak of 20 or more games in SEC history.
The victory improved A&M's record to 24-0 on the season, the second-longest win streak to start a campaign in school history. The foundation trails only the 26-0 start in 1989 when the Aggies went on to finish 58-7.

is it too soon to remind the board how that season ended?

I believe that was a covid year. They just canceled the rest of the games.

Yea - if LSU or Arkansas were 23-1 and 6-0 in the SEC, coming off of an absolute dick stomping of the #1 team in the country on the road all while averaging winning games by 7+ runs or whatever it is they'd be all over this board letting us know it.
- Georgia Southern is 17-4 outside of their UT series, and took 2 of 3 in their 3 games vs GT/UGA. Tennessee swept them and outscored them 35-3.
- They beat Baylor and Oklahoma in Houston
- They beat South Carolina in 3 games by a combined score of 23-5
- They beat #1 Ole Miss in Oxford in 3 games by a combined score of 26-7
Dam, just dam. This is pure domination. Tip of the hat to the Vols. As many have said in this thread baseball is a hard one to win. I'd say its the most difficult National Champ to win. It's all about the arms, which UT has in spades....plus UT hits the ball pretty well also.

There's just so much variance in the sport that statistically you're gonna have games where balls don't find grass, you don't get a timely hit, or so many different things. And if you have a game or two like that at the wrong time (in the postseason), your whole season could be ruined. We've been there plenty of times and have the t-shirts to prove it.

Yea, it's just not a single game sport. So when you play a tournament where one bad night can either end your season or throw you into a spot where you have to use 900 pitchers to get back to the finals.......it is what it is.
As anybody who watches college or specifically major league baseball knows, the best team over the course of the season rarely is the one who ends up winning the title. Regular season and playoff/tournament baseball are very different animals for a million reasons.

Meh, at this point, the only fans I see trying to fight against Tennessee being #1 are a few Arkansas fans. The new back and forth thing they have with Tennessee fans is really weird and random, and I don't even know where the beef started
I'm guessing it started over basketball season, which just ended for us,, so there's still some residual asshattery.
RPI is weird this time of year. No one really knows what they have, but Tennessee should be unanimous #1 at this point, and anyone disagreeing is a chode.

Is this where UT might be the real deal this year? Don't they have multiple "Aces" in their rotation?

I don't know a ton about their staff makeup, but if I remember from what Serraneaux was saying earlier they have a couple of top of the rotation guys who have been hurt and are either not back yet or are being brought back slowly. Don't know their status for the rest of the year, though.

yes, and their "ace" coming into the season still hasn't played yet

Tennessee is the best team in college baseball right now and people seem to be fighting against that because Serraneaux pisses them off.
I'm not. They are without a doubt the beat team right now. They aren't just winning, either. They are blowing teams out.

Without a doubt. Would be many check in threads.

You could say North or South...on the Carolinas, and still be on track. Looking at the schedule (unless I'm missing it somewhere), that 2000 UNC team started 21-0. They were swept in their first ACC series by Georgia Tech, and USCe started 22-0 (losing their first game in game 3 of their first SEC series of the year against Florida).
So the two state schools in the Carolinas started the season 43-0 that season. How crazy is that?
I didnt know that, but that is absolutely nuts

I believe it belongs to Arizona state who in 1972 won like their first 40 or 45 games. Their final record that year was 64-4.
I think Texas had a streak in 76 or 77 of like 35 straight to open at 35-1.

There was an LSU fan that said Maine was better than GA Southern this year. That was fun.

We will win it all this year. Just keep Sewell off the mound in clutch situations against elite competition.
Posted on 3/28/22 at 1:27 pm to Serraneaux
A&M started 25-0 in 2015 if I recall.

I get your overall point, but, at a minimum, starting well helps with resumes for being a national seed and hosting regionals. It’s unfortunate the constant and relentless bragging makes people want to lessen what Tennessee baseball is doing. Because right now they are exceptional.
