Texas And Oklahoma Approach SEC About Joining Conference

Of course the SEC wanted Texas. Every conference wants Texas. Massive population that actually cares about football, elite recruiting grounds, solid academics, the total package. Texas fans are going to get shite on here as the new pledges in the conference, but of course adding Texas was a home run. I'd argue it is the most significant conference addition ever. More than Penn St to the B10, Miami to the ACC, or USC to the B10. Even better for the SEC is we did it by staying geographically and culturally contiguous unlike the B10 which has to hold its nose while adding West Coast teams.

Nebraska left because they were 1-9 against Texas in league play and couldn't stomach it. Morons killed their program's recruiting pipeline to go get beat by Northwestern.

Missouri begins frantically texting the Big 10 but getting left on read.

Colorado left because the Big 12 South (minus Baylor) was rumored to be joining the Pac10, and Colorado saw their window shrinking. I'll concede Texas was leading that charge. Colorado's the only one with a legitimate gripe against Texas.

ESPN swoops in and gives Texas the Longhorn Network to keep them (and the rest) in the Big 12, which had now lost Nebraska and Colorado. A&M was pissed when Texas admin told A&M's president "We'll take good care of you," and he began conversations with the SEC.

To get A&M to stay, the Big 12 gives Texas A&M Nebraska's cut, and yet they still left for the SEC a couple years later. Missouri can't believe its luck.

If the SEC had not added aTm, Texas, and OU, we'd find ourselves making 20-30 mil less per season than Big Ten teams and wondering if/when teams like Kentucky or Tennessee might start looking north.

We could have achieved the same financial gain bringing FSU and Clemson into the conference. True SEC destination schools
