What would be the thoughts on moving Alabama and Auburn to the East?

I know that would make 5 of the big 6 in one division, but wouldn't that end a lot of the problems. In particular, couldn't we then drop the permanent cross divisional rival.

With 14 teams it is really hard to even think of most teams in the East being in the same conference since we play them so rarely.

Any other big cons you can think of?

No pro or con even comes close to the magnitude of the power shift that would result.

Sounds great. I propose that we go ahead and allow LSU to include the SECCG in their season ticket packages since they'll be there every year.

Geographically it makes sense.

But you'd just be causing the same problems the Big 12 had with the North and South divisions. You'd have a Texas or Oklahoma murdering a Colorado by 50 points in the SECCG and that is bad for bidness.

Wish they would. I really miss the UF game.

Why?

Not knocking LSU but Arkansas and Ole Miss have both had success v LSU.

Texas A&M will eventually right the ship.

Miss State was a missed FG from winning this year.

The only way it would work is if Oklahoma and Texas joined the SEC. The two divisions would be wildly unbalanced. You would have Bama, Tennessee, Auburn, Georgia and Florida all in the same division while the only top program in the West would be LSU.

I do feel like Florida, Georgia and Auburn should all be in one division.

Auburn is the closest SEC school to Gainesville, insane what has happened to this once great rivalry.

Yeah looking at the map. Another Texas School and Oklahoma?

I get the perm matches. I would hate to lose them. But at the same time it doubles the length of time it takes to play the other East teams right now. Waiting all those years for Florida or Tenn sucks.

But then you would have same problem. Cannot get rid of TSIO .

Would be unfair to bama and tenn.

You would also lose the Iron Bowl.

I think this map screws us out of great Florida games.

If conference realignment results in gaining OU and okie lite, that move would be ideal.

Not so much in any other scenario.

Horrible idea. Switch Auburn with Mizzou and go to 9 game conference schedule.

People will oppose it, because to protect all of the most major rivalries, 5 of the Big Six would have to be in one division.

-Deep South's Oldest Rivalry
-Iron Bowl
-Third Saturday in October
-World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party

You would have to let the New SEC East/Big Five play only 4 conference games to make it more fair since the New SEC West/LSU+Little Eight will have weaker teams. The West could then play 8 conference games to compensate. It sounds awkward, but seriously the major rivalries are maintained this way. All major AND minor rivalries can be maintained too if Kentucky and Vanderbilt also join their rival Tennessee in the East.
